NOT FOR SALE, TRADE, OR LENDING

Is it a lair if there are no personal effects? Or do books and ancient scrolls and texts long since forgotten count? Perhaps, but it seems that from the endless piles of dust along every surface, the baren flooring, and thrown piles of various parchment and uncleaned ink splatters, perhaps this room has not been used for a long time.

"Oh? Did you get lost? Let me lead you to the library proper, just through this doorway. I'll be certain that what you seek can be found there!"

XXXWalking through the corridors, you spot a larger than usual opening. Sure enough, a placard is nailed above the opening, engraved with scripted text that reads, "The Library." Perfect, exactly what you were looking for.

XXXEntering the cavernous room, you can't help the distinct tickling at your nostrils iconic of dust. Another inhale brings with it the smell of ink and paper, and probably more dust than is healthy.

XXXThe tickling finally grows until your lungs protest by ejecting it all forcefully. The sneeze garners the attention of a few of the Library's visitors, and apparently startling one of the Imperials into knocking a massive pile of scrolls off a table.

XXXSaid Imperial rumbles out a whisper of, "Oopsies," and bundles the fallen scrolls into their claws before turning to greet you, eyes glimmering behind dark spectacles, thankfully sans falling parchment.

XXX"I presume you're here for the archive, correct?" they ask with a tilt to their head, methodical and slow. Before you can respond, they turn away and sets the scroll bundled in their claws in a pile near a column of mantles, freeing their claws to maneuver through the stacks of tomes. "You've come to the right place. Please have a seat, I'll be right with you."

XXXYou watch as they disappear amongst the books and parchment, figuring that this will not be as expedient of a trip as previously assumed. May as well make yourself at home, you turn to pull one of the mantles off of the tower and settle in place as you wait for the Imperial to return.

XXXTheir reappearance is heralded by the sound of fluttering paper and leather slapping against leather as stacks of books come tumbling down, making you cringe from the loudness in such a normally (or, well, you presume normally) quiet place. They settle their belongings in front of you in a recommendation of order rather than any real organization, "Here we are! Feel free to browse our collection for as long as you'd like."

XXXAs you tentatively reach for a parchment off the top, you hear a mutter, "I might need the time to... reorganize..."

⊱XRole of familiar » Mantle, Rawwa the Raucous Runner is over-eager and rushes to settle under the bums of any dragon looking for a place to sit. It also has a bit of a pyrophilic streak, to the benefit of the library as it rushes to smother any active fires.
Companion, Rat the cat does not leave Nym's side, which means she essentially lives and breathes books as her ride does. Rat, however, has not realized that laying on text does not equate to enjoying it.

⊱XOne of my oldest dragons, literally hasn't changed their role for over 5 years (which is why I keep misgendering them FFFF)
⊱XHavnena was an impulse pairing, but you know what I think the clumsy lesbians are cute
⊱XHas the most lore-significant children. I didn't even realize how many. I'm clearly way too emo and I love them too much.

Relationships

Havnena
MATE

Originally, Havnena and Nymric had bonded over their perpetual clumsiness and lacking focus after Havnena literally tumbled into Nym's cave. Despite this, Havnena brought light to Nymric's life that they had once thought could only be filled by ink and paper. They now spend every free moment cuddling on the mantles in the library while Nymric reads tales and poems to their love. Well, at least their fleshy love. Books still hold most of the space in their heart, they've just carved a space barely large enough for Havnena in it.

Valostine
SON

While Nym and Valo don't often speak anymore, Valo is still probably the second or third most frequent visitor to the library; always looking to add more to his notes on magic or runes or something-or-other of arcane nature. And while Valostine clearly doesn't have the same love of books and scripture that Nym and Ryu do, Valo often needs Nym to put something in his claws just for fun to keep him from nervously vibrating out of his scales or tangled into knots.
The invitation to their bookclub meetings is always open for anyone needing a nice warm cup of tea and a decent book to read.

As the last child from Nymric's time as a brood mother, perhaps it is fitting that their relationship has fundamentally deteriorated. Though if you were to ask Ceri, they never really had one to deteriorate in the first place.
Nym did what they could for all of their children, regardless of whether or not they had wanted them or not. There's only so much that one mother can do when their clan was falling apart every other week. Despite this, Nym knows that Ceri will never forgive her mother for failing to be even a little bit more present during her development. It's a failing they continue to struggle to make up for, even today.

Nivur
DAUGHTER

There sits an old moth-bitten Mith doll, slumped over but surprisingly well cared for, on a shelf in the relatively unused room of Nymric. One of her first children, back when they had been bright-eyed and youthful, the clan still hundreds strong, with a variety of faces from a variety of flights and not four matriarchs deep into a beastclan conspiracy.
Nymric had trained their child for exalt, only to have their child help care for their younger siblings as her mother continued to do a job they didn't want to do. Originally, Nivur also did not wish to exalt, but at least Nivur had ultimately gone peacefully to the Windsinger's side, honoring the leader that she had chosen to believe in.
They still write letters-- when they can remember to write.

Ryukami
CO-WORKER

There are few who Nym interacts with more often than Ryukami. Ryu just about lives in the library alongside Nym, managing and restoring old historical documents, and if Nym isn't in, the Ryu is very happily organizing the already extensive hoard of scrolls and tomes in the archive. Nym sees Ryu as practically family at this point; Ryu puts up with and cleans up after their messes. They know each other's favorite books and genres, and often meet for Book club meetings while their mates are busy.
