Theme: Ballad of Serenity
━━ story ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
”No, no.” Maledict could hear the Spiral’s very bones shaking from here. “No, I ain’t going near that place. You’re nuts.”

Maledict chuckled. “Oh, come on. The dead are just as fragile as the living.”

“Ain’t natural.” Cobb shook his head and held fast. “And I hope they make quick work of you, because I sure ain’t staying here should you lead those shambling freaks of nature back here. Can tell you that much.”

“Aw.” Maledict fairly squawked his disappointment. “Alright, well. Let’s get a second opinion.”

“I don’t need a second opinion!” Cobb hissed.

“Come on, Cobb, stop your whining.” The Snapper hunkered down beside them. He didn’t seem in the least concerned to Maledict, but he’d been preparing for this kind of thing almost his whole life. “And let’s get this over with.”

“That’s the spirit!” Maledict said, slapping Typics’ thick and rock-like shoulder.

“I don’t like this,” Cobb muttered, pulling out his very favorite weapon. “Not one bit.” His hatchet, named Vera for whatever reason, blinked placidly, and drew in a breath. Cobb cut it off. “Don’t you start, you worthless piece of━”

“Just stick to the plan, and you’ll be fine,” Typic offered helpfully.

Maledict grinned; he didn’t believe that, and neither did Cobb. Except, in Cobb’s case, it didn’t matter whether it was true or not. He was right to be afraid of these undead monsters. However fragile, they were hard to kill. They were vicious. They had nothing to lose. They required a hunter with the same qualities.

Perhaps it was why Cobb was such a bad zombie fighter.

Cobb was never quite right in the head, or so the story goes. At the behest of his mother, he went out searching for adventure, or, at least, any other place to live. Cobb’s always been a wanderer, thanks to a long bloodline of Wind running through his Lightning veins. He’s as unpredictable as a livewire and just as enthusiastic and dangerous. After staying with his grandparents, Moor and Heather, for a bit, Cobb found a place of some permanence with the Tempest Chase.

The good thing is he knows his weapons. The bad thing is he’s constantly running his mouth, and it’s never polite. He’s generally not allowed around clients, but certain clients during mealtimes━there’s just no avoiding it. In the Tempest Chase’s early days, he was just about the cause of some contacts falling through, but these days Cek keeps him at bay with threats of withholding payment for tax purposes. Cobb knows better, but he doesn’t know how to argue. Cobb’s greatest asset and greatest downfall is that he is loyal only to himself.

Cobb is most likely to act so irrationally accompanying the threat of an undead invasion of any kind. He has multiple zombie-escape and zombie-destruction plans. Though everyone is afraid of Emperors, Cobb takes the concept above and beyond its original design and intent. He is ever on the lookout for the best “Emperor-Buster” sword or set of claws, but whenever the Tempest Chase is called to go anywhere near an Emperor sighting, Cobb is a vocal opponent, though he tries to maintain the appearance he’s not scared beyond his meager wits.

As a Lightning dragon, Cobb is preoccupied by the way things work, and weapons in particular. He wastes little time in outside pursuits, choosing instead to fine-tune his fighting skills, learn more about weapons and make them, and generally enhance his ability to earn a paycheck. Like most Spirals, he’s hyperactive, though he’s learned (perhaps unfortunately) to channel the majority of his energy through his uncouth mouth. Fortunately, or unfortunately, he’s indispensable in a fight. It doesn’t matter if he cares or not.

━━ familiar ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
It’s no surprise that Cobb has a collection of weapons and other sharp and clubbed objects. On his trip through Lightning, Cobb caused no small amount of trouble and found himself (and a small crew, but he tells the tale as though he were alone) cornered by a small band of bounty hunters. The biggest one carried a crooked hatchet that Cobb claimed for himself after the battle. It’s his very favorite weapon. He calls it Vera. He loves it so much, there are very few things he’d offer it in trade for. It doesn’t much appreciate it.

━━ clan ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Lace Lantana Even though Cobb gets along just fine with his grandfather, Moor, Heather was like the mother he never had. She can do nothing about his manners, fears, or path, but she loves him and will take him in no matter what happens. Perhaps Cobb knows this, as he sends her letters (however poor the penmanship or spelling) while they are out hunting. In return, she sends him gifts. One such gift is the little fez that he wears. Though it makes him look pretty silly━the opposite of intimidating, really━Cobb seems absolutely oblivious. He thinks it makes him look cunning.
━━ notes ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
» Cobb simply took his grandparents’ surname as his own and is known, appropriately enough, as Cobb Trickvine.
»
» Cobb is no hero. However, there is a crappy town on the edge of Earth’s domain where the dragons and beasts labor long in their mud pits for materials for ceramics. Cobb is considered a hero there. They even have a song about him.
