Everyone was confused when, as a child, Rajin was drawn to the open waters. He was no water dragon, in fact almost the opposite. Lightning was a domain of the sky after all, but that didn't stop Rajin. The first chance he got he hopped on a boat and was gone. Over the years he was taught many skills - how to scamper up sails and do repairs and swallow what passed for pickles on a ship with grimacing - but Raijin took to navigating like a duck to water.

Rajin had always had a creative mind, and the navigating tools he was presented with were curiosities he could not overlook. He took them apart and put them back together even better than before. He got ideas in his head and crafted his very own tools to seek treasures by. Despite Rajin's absolute delight in finding treasures when he hopped ships, his definition of treasure was rather, well, variable. It could be anything from an auspicious fishing ground to treasure chests to fantastic wind currents. All of these things were treasures in Rajin's eyes.

After much boat hopping - and some rather unimpressed captains - Raijin eventually found a friend and partner in Captain Rhiwallon, a dragon who used his ship for both trade and voyaging. Rhiwallon always permitted Rajin in his search for treasures, even when one of said 'treasures' turned out to be a lovely Nocturne Rajin fell head over heels for. It's a fruitful relationship between the duo, and Rajin wouldn't trade his current life for the world.
