Mist had always been good at reading others’ emotions. His parents were… kind of tsunderes, all things considered, and he learned to read their actual emotions whenever they were having a fight. It was very necessary, because if he didn’t step in, they would take the misunderstandings and run a marathon with it, and he would have to spend weeks with his parents being passive-aggressive to each other and being caught up in their fight. From there, he started helping out the dragons he knew in the village with their emotion-related problems, and eventually made a name for himself with it.

So really, it was no surprise that he had become a matchmaker. What can he say; he liked seeing dragons actually communicate and have a happy ending, sue him. And yes, his favourite type of novels were drama-filled and sappy with happy endings, but that part is irrelevant.

All of that aside, he took pride in his work— both the matchmaking part and the match-mending part. For the former, it was a nice challenge to find ‘the one’ for a dragon, especially if he actually succeeded in it. Watching the potential couple’s interactions with each other often gave him ideas for his secret, never-to-be-written and only-kept-inside-his-mind romance novels too. For the latter, more often than not, the couples that entered his office ready to break up left with satisfied hearts and deeply in love with each other once more. As for the few that didn’t work out, they would leave with a mutual agreement, and sometimes even stay as friends.

Yes, Mist was satisfied with his job and his life so far. If only he could get his advice to work on himself, though; he wanted his parents to stop asking after his love life, by the Eleven! Didn’t they have their own love life to look after?!
