ADRIENNE
THE FALLEN ONE
__________
33188145.png
▬▬ ABOUT ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

A celestial being from many worlds away, and the true leader behind The League of Valor. Adrienne is obsessed with defeating The Lightweaver and taking over as the "true" deity of light. Everything she does is done with that goal in mind, and she will not rest until she reaches it. Most are blissfully unaware of these ambitions. In fact, the vast majority of the clan's members believe that Adrienne is the patron deity of the clan, and nothing more. But for those who know of her true nature, rumor has it that she is using her "quest" to defeat The Lightweaver in order to avoid addressing someone else...

▬▬ ORIGIN ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Born in the devastating aftermath of a supernova, Adrienne was quickly met with a thirst for power. For eons, they would travel across the universe, destroying other celestial beings to feed their own power. The young star was relentless in her domination, not at all fearful to brandish her world-crushing powers. As more and more celestials disappeared, something, or rather, someone began to stir. Seeking justice, the queen of the stars emerged from her palace and confronted the young being with her mighty bow. In an instant, Adrienne was defeated and reduced to a mere fraction of her original self, both in terms of power and size. The significantly smaller celestial being was now highly vulnerable to the pull of gravity, and it was not long before a nearby planet pulled them down to its surface. As she fell, her mind was blinded by fear, sinking into despair. But their despair would be quickly replaced by joy, for the elemental forces on the planet came to embrace them. It was not long until she pushed her defeat to the back of her mind, forgetting her old enemy.

"That lady? Oh, of course. I still remember our deal from so long ago. How could I forget? As weak as that coatl is, she did play a large part in helping me rise to power. Her distrust in me is not ideal, but it doesn't matter. She doesn't have the resolve to do any true damage against me. Even if she did, I'd deal with it swiftly. Now her spouse on the other hand..."

▬▬ NOTES ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

» the resident cartoon villainTM of my lair. 99% of the problems in my lore are because of their shenanigans and they know it

» is not actually a dragon; in her original form, Adrienne is much, much larger

» Adrienne has not taken on her original form in many years, though.

» usually hides their true strength by pretending to be much weaker than they actually probably are. Even their children are unsure of how strong Adrienne really is.

» particularly religious individuals may refer to her as "Her Radiance." Some non-religious people also call her this because they fear that referring to her in a rude way will be catastrophic for them.

▬▬ OTHER LORE ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Lightweaver Marble Bust

ORIGIN (CONT.)
[ WRITTEN BY SHALT
]

When Sornieth first formed, there was nothing. Light entered the fledgling world, cautious and unsure, full of potential and destruction. Water rose from Sornieth’s depths to meet it, roaring, tossing, whispering in its ear. It slipped secret notes containing the formula for creation, insecurities and fears scribbled in the margins, enemies and potential hazards scrawled in the footnotes. All the while, light watched its every move, seeing a potential enemy in this new force- for light was determined to obliterate it, to wipe all competition off the face of the planet. It was to make sure that Sornieth was not a land of murky depths and churned swamps, but a land of brilliance, one where hopes and dreams were not isolated.

The forming asteroid was engulfed in a radiant maelstrom while light hissed and spat insults at the newcomer, egging it on and daring it to show its true potential. Like a moth to flame, water took the bait and met light on an ethereal battlefield to begin a war that would be marked in the history books of Sornieth as The Great Chaos.

But the arrival of an unusual presence interrupted their clash. A celestial being, from the outer depths of space, collided into the planet. Light and water paused, initially furious by the newcomer who dared impede their fight. But they quickly realized the opportunity that lay before them: if they could convince this being to side with them, then they would have the honor of nurturing the very first form of life on the newborn planet. Light and water raced to be the first to persuade this newcomer, unaware that this being had already aligned themself with an element.

The celestial being was one born of light, and she held a lot of respect for it. Prior to her collision with Sornieth, she wielded her powers to crush other celestial beings and take their powers for herself. Light had brought her much success, and she was not about to betray it.

The Skydancer simply did not see water as an element of life. Unlike light, water was limited- not only in quantity, but in power as well. Adrienne greatly admired a never-ending brilliance, and was determined to preserve that spark. In her wide eyes, it gave plants the will to live, it gave living organisms the desire to see their goals on the horizon. Light gave the planet the strength to survive. But most of all? Light gave her power.

Therefore, she vowed to destroy water, vowed to break its sorry face of the face of Sornieth- and for all she was concerned, it was not needed on this fledgling satellite.

Adrienne not only redefined power- she gave it a new form, a new purpose. Water grew to fear her more than light itself, and began to forget about its true opponent- for its only threat was the Skydancer. At times, Adrienne’s own rage and hate for water filled her narrow sight. Though water was light's longstanding enemy, it could not accept someone who was so eager to use violence in order to utterly obliterate what they hated.

Thus, light could only dream of replacing her, of finding a better pawn in this otherworldly war. But so long as Adrienne was present, it would never be able to forge a new deity. Light was sure that Adrienne could just as easily turn on it, directing her violence towards whatever dared to threaten her status as the all-powerful deity of light. All light could do was sit on the sidelines in horror and wait.

It was not long until opportunity came.

As more elements began to take form on Sornieth, four new deities arose with them, and began to shape Sornieth. However, it was not long until they came across Adrienne. Alarmed by the raging deity they saw before them, they combined forces and fought Adrienne until she was forced to retreat. She shrunk herself down and hid among the planet's newly formed landscape, waiting for a chance to retaliate. The four continued to shape the world, but peace would not last for long. They soon entered conflict once more, only this time, they fought each other.

But with Adrienne out of the way, light was free to create a new deity- one that could use light's favor to help the planet thrive. From the magic essences kicked up by the four's warring, light forged a new deity.

The Lightweaver had raised her head to the brilliance far above her tiny head, taking in the world’s beauty and potential with her tear-strung eyes. What if we didn’t have to fight? was a thought that dragged a well-worn track within her mind. What if this is a war that can only be won by cooperation?

The newborn deity fought harder than anyone on her side to preserve core values essential to civilization. A soup of hard work, dedication, and teamwork was concocted by the two sides- light gave it the necessary energy for Sornieth to function, while water gave it the fuel. All the while, Adrienne could only lay in wait on the sidelines, jealousy painting the darker shadows of her personality…

Over the eons, deities popped up as if their mere existence was a pinprick in the folds of time. Eventually, they overwhelmed Adrienne’s existence, causing her to fade. She was barely a wraith, a wisp of a dragon when she emerged from hiding and waged a war against the Lightweaver.

This resulted in a victory for Adrienne, thanks to underhanded tactics. However, it was not enough- it never was. It lacked in vengeance to quench the Skydancer’s thirst for blood. It was missing respect, groveling, and banquets and feasts held in her honor.

No matter how hard she tried, plead, and strained against her heavy bonds of guilt, she was not able to gain attention and favor.

The deities of Sornieth were not pleased with Adrienne's return, and even less so with her war against The Lightweaver. They viewed her as a fake; a mockery of their combined effort to shape and protect the planet. Adrienne was absolutely nothing like The Lightweaver, who used her power to lay the foundations for life on the planet rather than utilising it for violence. They may have been the first, but they could not respect any other element aside from their own. Allowing them to wander freely would only cause even more conflict.

The deities combined their power to defeat Adrienne, once and for all. And although they reduced her to a mere sliver of what remained of her power, they were still unable to kill her. Wounded, Adrienne retreated into the deepest region of what would eventually become the Hewn City, hiding deep within an abandoned temple. The deities, convinced that she was gone for good, went their separate ways.

In hiding, Adrienne burned with a rage that she never felt before. How dare they take her rightful place? Adrienne knew that her best option would be to retreat back into space where her enemies were not so dangerously close, but she could not let her fury go. She would get her revenge. She would force that "false god" off the throne and reclaim her rightful place as the "true" deity of light.

The deities of Sornieth would pay. No matter what it takes.

Glowing Pocket Bauble

VENGEANCE
[ WRITTEN BY AURAEA ]

Smoke twisted and whirled in the air, clinging to the blackened rubble like a shadow.

The story of the ruins began with a cursed crown. A ring of twisted metal forged in the heart of a dark fire, enchanted by a being of unknown origin. Few, if any, knew the true story of the crown. The world only knew the dragon who wore it, the most powerful dragon any of them had seen since the beginning of time.

Once, long ago, a great city stood overlooking the ocean. Hundreds of Sornieth's most powerful dragons dwelled within its walls. Skilled mages and renowned warriors lived together in the largest clan known to dragonkind. They rivaled the gods themselves in their collective power, ruling the continent with their might. They lived under the rule of their queen, the dragon who wore the cursed crown upon her head.

The clan grew in power for years before they became too bold, crossing the line that divided ignorance and defiance in their attempt to forsake the gods. When their queen roared to the world that they would no longer bend to the will of the Eleven, the gods roared back.

Their vengeance would never be forgotten.

All the gods descended from the skies in a blaze of fury. Elemental energy rained from the heavens in an unstoppable deluge, destroying the skydancer's city and her subjects. The clan put up a fight, but not one of them even scratched the hide of a god. All of them paid the price for trying.

The queen vanished with the gods that day. No one ever saw her again, though her cursed crown still lies in the center of the ruins. No one dares claim it. They know the fury they would face should they ever attempt to wear the crown. It remains as a purposeful reminder of the consequence of forgetting the power of the Eleven.

It's been a thousand years, and the ruins still blaze in the night.
