Biography
|
A S T E R friendly - intelligent - straightforward - ambitious When Aster was a young hatchling, nobody cared about appearances. Others loved to have Aster around for her personality; she was kind, outgoing, and friendly. However, as she and those around her began to grow, their ways of thinking began to change as well. It no longer mattered to the others how funny Aster’s jokes were; it mattered more how beautiful her colors were. Many of Aster’s old friends began turning on her, saying that she was too straightforward, ambitious, rude, and overconfident. They told her that she didn’t have anything to be confident about; she was too ugly, nobody would want her around because she was just a pain to see. Suddenly, Aster found herself alone. She was no longer the shining star, the one that was the most loved. She had become the outcast simply for her looks. Aster decided to change. She told herself repeatedly that scattering her colors would make the others love her again. Aster told herself that it would her happier as well. However, that wasn’t the case. After she changed to have “pretty colors” like the others did, she didn’t feel any happier. They accepted her again, but she never felt like they were her true friends. Aster no longer wanted to spend her days with those that had called her terrible names in the past yet treated her so well now simply because she was prettier. Astrid became shy and withdrawn, hanging out with her “friends” less and less. She began spending more time alone, working harder to find what would make her truly happy. She was still ambitious; she just had a different goal. Astrid no longer wanted to satisfy everybody else. Her own happiness was her new goal. Over time, Astrid learned to let go of the past. She managed to forget her past colors when she realized that she could be satisfied with who she was. Astrid found new friends; a flock of fairies that cared about her, that supported her in her dreams. After many years, Astrid finally understood that although she had changed who she was on the outside, she could always find herself on the inside if she searched hard enough. |
