Mava had a gift for lightning magic at a young age, despite her light heritage, and her clan urged her to use it for 'practical' things. The only downside was their opinion of practical was using her gift for technology and skill at inventing things to make weapons. Mava soon grew loathsome of it, not a fighter herself. She'd much rather see her inventions enjoyed and help others, but she knew her clan would never understand, and so she ran away.

For a while, she refused to do anything that involved technology, and instead set out to be a sell-sword, or sell-mage in her case. She traveled with an older coatl named Simmons who took her under his wing as an apprentice. The two formed a strong familial bond, but as is often the case with adventurers, their story eventually took a turn for the worst. Their encampment was ambushed. Mava was shoved into the fire, her face burned, and though she was able to flee and recover, she never found Simmons again.

She wandered for a time, despondent and depressed, eventually wandering into the ghostlight ruins on a self destructive monster hunting binge. Instead of death, she found the Shard Fortress, and something about the clan living there drew her in. Slowly, she healed and grew, and made friends with the dragons living there.

Noticing the clan's lack of power and protection, she set about inventing a source of energy, a giant generator located beneath the clan's central castle. It powers the entire clan, and also casts a weak magic shield around the clan's territory that both repels monsters and, if activated, will cast a weak illusion that will hide the area from most dragons.

This invention earned her a spot on the council as the Speaker of Technology, and she is always finding new ways to improve the fortress.
