B I O G R A P H Y

He knew his species had a short life span. They were like ants or worker bees, often pairing off with a dragon inclined toward necromancy like their mother. All his brothers were like that, taking after their father. He had accepted his fate at birth.

After recieving their training, he and his brothers had been sent out into the world to spread the word of Arenji and gain more followers and he had followed orders as a good soldier should. In the first month of his life he saw his brothers fall, some succumbing to the servitude of the gods while others were reborn by their new clans to serve as protectors. Not him, however. What was wrong with him? Waiting for his fate, Lile lay down in the crook of a fallen tree to allow death to catch up with him.

After a slumber of unknown time, he was compelled to wake. While he had no connection to the empathic powers normally attributed to skydancers, he had a powerful connection to the will of Arenji and followed this compulsion withough question. A short distance from his resting place he heard the bellow of a Loga on the offensive.

Without a thought to his safety - a short life span taught him that - he let out a bellow worthy of an imperial and charged over the brush, leaping on the creature. It screeched and fled, surprised by the young Spawn. Giving the fleeing creature a huff, he turned to its prey - a female skydancer. A once-over proved that, while she was shaken up, she was unharmed. That noted, he turned around and wandered back to his resting place to continue his sleep, hopefully this time eternally.

The next morning he was compelled to wake. Much to his irritation, as his eyes blearily opened, he gazed around to find himself alive. He rose and was surprised to see various flowers falling from his wings onto the forest floor. Strange... Paying no heed, he went to hunt himself some food. Spawn had little need to eat, their bodies already partially deceased, but some sustenance was needed eventually.

____Over the course of the next few days this cycle continued. Arenji woke him, drawing him out of eternal slumber to find himself covered with flowers. One morning as he woke, he saw someone near him at the other end of the tree. He rose to his paws, eying the stranger. It was the female he had rescued earlier. "These yours?" he inquired, lifting one in his paw. No answer. He cocked his head. What was Arenji trying to tell him? Not letting him sleep after compelling him to rescue this female? He sauntered over to her, his head held low in behavior strange for a skydancer. "Who are you?" No answer. Growing frustrated, he huffed at her, pacing a few steps until finally he reached out to poke her. "Hey, you al-". He froze as a rush of warmth flooded his body. Life touched him, stronger than it ever had since he was born. What was this?

____Suddenly it all made sense. He knew of the guardians, how they strove to find their charge, and he knew how his father and his brothers were similar - they found a life-giver or they perished for servitude of the gods. But what he had never been told was that sometimes you didn't have to die to find your life-giver. Sometimes it was someone to live for instead. And when he looked into her eyes, seeing the caring and gratefulness in them, he knew he had found it.

_THE CLAN_

____She broght him back to her clan and he followed her like a guard dog. Upon entering, he saw a variety of looks cast toward him, skeptical. Good. It meant his intimidating demeanor was doing its job. But the female who led him here seemed to have no fear of him and, to his mild surprise, he had no qualms with that. He continued to keep a watchful eye over her, wary of any attack he may need to fend off, his background as a warrior giving him little reason to stand down, but these people did not seem to be a threat.

____He continued to follow his little flower, as he had come to refer to her, around the camp and everywhere she went. He enjoyed observing her beautifying the camp, although he did not understand it. Such peace and caring were foreign in his old clan. Much to his indignation, he allowed her to place flowers on him as he followed her, looking out for her and protecting his life-giver.
