X To look at Valena as an adult, you would never guess how wild she had been in her youth. As a hatchling, she was constantly curious, sticking her snout into things and generally making a nuisance of herself. If you saw one of her den mothers running around frantically, it was a good bet that she was behind it.

From the quiet and deliberate way she goes about her business these days, you would think she had changed quite a bit. However, that same fire she had as a hatchling can still be seen whenever she is given a challenge, whether it is a new cave to explore, a unique geological phenomenon to investigate, or an imperial to deadlift.

X Valena had always been fascinated with caves and keeps a rock collection of specimens that range from expensive to completely worthless. She has been exploring caves all her life, loving the subtle textures and sweeping formations that can form underground by the careful hand of millennia. During a group expedition in Greatwyrm Breach, Valena was paired with a Ridgeback named Conrad. When exploring one of the ancient lairs deep beneath the earth, an old magical security system came to life, trapping them. That old lair would have been their tomb except that together they were able to outwit the defenses by working together to trick it into thinking they were some of the original inhabitants. They walked out of that cave side-by-side and have been the best of friends ever since.

X Making a name for themselves as adventurers and caving experts, they were eventually tapped by Dulce de Aventura to host a spelunking expedition for Thundercrack Carnivale 2017. The cave they were sent to explore was one of the more beautiful ones they had ever seen, and they spent weeks together finding everything it had to offer. Valena flatly refused to leave the cave for more than short periods of time. Instead, she could be found marveling at soft star-like textures, nets of rock that seemed to catch and hold the sunlight, and three dimensional mazes hallowed out in ages past.

Unfortunately, the tour they had put together was never to be completed, because shortly after the start there was a large cave in. The cave where she and the tour attendees had fallen was completely foreign, showing signs of more recent water passage. She was alarmed and on edge during the next few days as she tried to keep all those with her safe until they could all reach the surface.

She and Conrad never received any answers for what had happened. They returned to the surface to find Dulce de Aventura disbanded and all of the cave exits under guard by Spire Security. They were paid for their silence, but mystery of it still ate at her. A cave like the one they had fallen into needs exploring, though she had the disturbing feeling that the mysteries of it were the sort of thing that no one would want to know
