Biography

Akira
The Sculpter

Slipping from the pristine lair of Xena, you go back to wandering the web of hallways. Eventually, you reach a literal roadblock, as a huge grey and red imperial dressed in glittering black and purple has an assortment of chisels, hammers, and brushes laid out in the hall. You can see his porcelain mask is covered in stone dust as he stares intently at the mural he is working on, carefully chiseling away at a half done relief drawing. Finally, he puts his tool down and turns to you, only to yelp and startle away.
”By the Eleven, you scared me,” The imperial says breathily, carefully relaxing his limbs and putting a strained smile on his face, ”I-I am Akira, the sculptor. P-please don’t step on my tools, this area is a work in progress.”

Origins

Akira was born to a small clan in the Sea of a Thousand Currents during one of the toughest times for the water flight. The Tidelord had disappeared before Akira came around, leaving the young imperial without the typically involved deity and feeling quite alone. Where some of the elder Seers still visited the Spiral Keep in hopes of hearing a prophecy from their God, Akira had long since given up the hope of such things. Akira harbored a grudge with the Tidelord and refused to practice future-seeing, instead focusing his energies on more creative and concrete hobbies. He began with chipping away at the dead and dried sea coral, the calcified remains softer than the rocks on the shore. Eventually, after finding and sometimes making his own chiseling tools, Akira expanded his hobby to a partially submerged cave where he carved relief drawings of his life into its walls. When another fight with his parents over the fate of the Tidelord occurred, Akira tore away from his roots and fled the region, ending up in the polar opposite region of the Shifting Expanse. There, he met the Galestorm Flyers, who welcomed him as a skilled artisan and allowed the reserved sculptor to practice his skills on the halls of their lair and sell his sculptures at the marketplace. Though Akira remains furious at the Tidelord for apparent abandonment, he has since let go of his anger and focused more on his life now.

Personality

Akira is known among his clanmates for his reserved and shy nature, even among good friends. He prefers solitude and silence during his work and most of his free time, and will often only emerge from his lair when there is a clan meeting or celebration. Even then, he tends to stay at the edge of the crowd curled in on himself, sometimes trying to hide behind Hallow in a rather comical manner. Most of his working day is spent in marked off hallways, slowly and painstakingly carving relief murals in the wide strip of stone left for him specifically. This is where he is most comfortable in his own skin; he looks more relaxed and at ease, and his paws are steady on their chisel. His friends can often get a true conversation going with him by asking him about his work, though they must be prepared for a long-winded conversation about what each scene means and how he crafted them. However, should a stranger ask about his work, Akira is more likely to fall into a panic attack and go nonverbal, retreating into his shell or stumbling away from his fear. This is because Akira suffers from Generalized Anxiety Disorder as well as Social Anxiety, which tends to make it difficult for him to socialize without a stutter on his good days, or totally avoid strangers on his bad. Akira has a very small circle of friends due to this; Hallow and Prometheus are his closest, though he has amicable relations with Midnight, Bashiri, and Mitzuaki. ~~He has had no luck with finding a mate due to his anxiety, which angers him to no end though he still hopes to find one eventually~~. Through the years, Akira has grown closer with the clan geologist Ark, and the two have been dancing around calling their relationship a romantic one, though the entire clan considers them a couple already. Despite all his struggles and anger at life, Akira tries his best to maintain a positive outlook on life and has always valued his place at the Galestorm Flyers.
