Kia was exposed to Nothing in a very painful way. She was never supposed to exist- Her mother had only wanted two hatchlings. She was thrown into a nest of thorns when she grew older, was given a pendant that erased her completely, and was expected to die within two days.

Karona's motherly nature is what saved Kia. She was a young dragon at the time, and desperately wanted to prove herself to be useful. She found Kia choking on thorns, and rescued her from her fate. She led Kia to a small clan, known as Solus, and set up the rest of her life in a loving home.
