Biography
Persephone
Queen
Bonded to Hades
Queen
Bonded to Hades
Persephone, along with her bond, were the first to join the Clan of Rising Blood. She found the pair of Bloodrise and Angeline to be "cute" and thought it fun to see how things developed for the small group. It was never meant to be their permanent home, however, she quickly came to realize just how committed the Emperor was.
Each day thereafter the Imperial's ill joke slowly faded to the back of her mind. Things became serious the day Bloodrise asked the both of them to take up charge if ever he was away - as King and Queen of the Clan of Rising Blood. Since taking that responsibility Persephone has never had a second thought about leaving. She takes her job looking over the well-being of the Clan with the upmost care. Being the more approachable one between the two Imperials, most members bring their trouble to the Queen's attention; a fact she still takes a bit of pride in.
Further busywork includes checking up on the hoard, nests, and census of the Clan. She can list a plethora of things about each member due to her time majorly being spent ingrained with them - including their needs and wants. Information that is either reserved for the Emperor's Shadow or her own personal logs.
As for a bloodline, Persephone has always wanted a hatchling of her own. Be it unfavorable genes or ill luck, however, her and Hades have never been able to produce. It was only after a few years spent in the Clan of Rising Blood that the Plaguebringer blessed them with a single egg; her perfect little Prince Tereus. He is everything to the Queen. She stands by his side when the rest simply avoid his twisted ways - even Hades himself voices his distaste. It is something the two still argue over to this day.
Thus there is great speculation on whether the two Imperials will ever attempt another brood.

She had to imagine, though she had never quite asked, that the life of her confidante and--dare she say, friend--Angeline could not be too different from Persephone's herself. Queen of her people, admired and rightfully so, powerful and unafraid…and yet keeping company with ones others would turn from in a heartbeat.
Yes, she knew that her prince, her son, was…unusual. So he wasn't quite like the rest of the clan. That scarcely mattered in the long run, didn't it? He was of the clan, and he was blood of her blood. He was a spirit after Bloodrise's own heart, she knew it. Their clan spread the disease, and Tereus would swoop in behind them, on cerise wings of fury, and bring death to those left standing.
No dragon would dare stand against him. And she would help to build him into that leader.
It was true that Hades did not see the desire she had, did not understand her devotion to her son. She, frankly, couldn't understand his disdain. Persephone did not dote upon their only hatchling--the only one of all these years--in some desperate attempt for love in return. Of course, she wanted a connection with her son. That much was given, and yes, it was slow in coming, and yes, there were days when she thought perhaps her efforts were in vain. But she would not stop, as Hades had. The obsidian Imperial had allowed the oddity of their hatchling to come between the two of them, and now all she ever heard out of him in regards to Tereus were pleas to stop reaching out to him.
To stop reaching out. It was inconceivable.
In the end, she did not speak to Hades--or really, to anyone--about her son. Occasionally she could turn to Bloodrise and have a conversation about what the young drake was doing, but the leader's time was valuable, and he was not given to long conversations. She didn't begrudge him that; she wouldn't have wanted to take up more of his time than needed.
But despite it all, there was a fraction of her heart that felt lonely, in her love for her son.
At times, she wondered if perhaps simply approaching Hades and trying for another clutch would be the solution--but it would be too easy for the addition of new members of the family to push Tereus further away. No, that wouldn't do. She didn't want to look like she was replacing him.
But to stop with only this one hatchling…Persephone liked to believe that it looked as though she had begotten the perfect son, and needed no more in her life. But she heard the whispers in the clan. Fears that she and Hades would not nest again for fear of bringing another drake like Tereus into the clan. Fears that if they had produced this dragon…what else might come of their union?
What else. As if having a fledgling make a potionmaster of himself, poisons not even the Serthis could match, was the worst thing that could happen.
No. Tereus was enough. If in time, Plaguebringer saw fit to bless them with another nest...then she would worry about those hatchlings, and what might become of them, and what the clan may think of them...do to them. But it did not do to put worry ahead of action. Her one son was enough.
She did not need to improve upon perfection.
