It was a partly sunny day on the meadow. A light wind was blowing through the hay and the flowers, making them slowly sway back and forth like dancing ocean waves.
"PAPU!"
I heard Pihlaja yell my name. He had been writing something on the tree stump for a while now, grunting every now and then and throwing away crumbled balls of paper. Judging by what he had written on those, he's having trouble to start writing. I strut to him with light steps.
"So, are you done writing your love letter?" I ask with a smirk.
"What? Oh, no it's not a love letter", Pihlaja says. For a moment the look in his eyes seems absent.
"It's for an old friend."
Pihlaja raised his head and looked in the horizon for a long minute. The sun was starting to set.

"I don't think I have delivered a letter to that friend of yours", as I said that the expression shifted in Pihlaja's eyes, making me feel slightly wistful, but even more curious.
"Do you usually send these when you're traveling?" I asked. Pihlaja turned to look at me pensively and sighed:
"I don't write often to them. They don't write back or read my letters."
What a weird thing to do, writing to someone who doesn't even read your letters.

Pihlaja's mane was softly swaying in the wind as he folded the paper and slid it in a scroll envelope, closing it with his wax seal.
"I need you to deliver this."
"Naturally."
Pihlaja dismissed my comment and instructed: "take it to the eastern Gladeveins. There's an island shaped like a triangle and it's full of daffodils. There's also a fallen tree that's split in half with a carved stone slab placed next to it. "
"So not even a registered lair. Is there someone to pick it up?" I asked, wondering if I'm unknowingly partaking in some kind of a shady deal.
Pihlaja shook his head: "No, just place it on to the grave."
The sun had gone below the horizon and there was just a red glow left in the sky.
