B I O G R A P H Y

Icetalon's egg was stolen by Moonlord. He holds no grudges.
That pretty much sums his personality up in a nutshell. He's always been a pacifist, looking to Tesona or Silverwings to find a diplomatic solution rather than an aggressive one. That's not to say he's weak or cowardly, though. He can hold his own in battle, in fact he is the guard for the lair's main entrance. He's just particularly peaceful, and prioritises family life over guarding the clan's expansive territory-- often making his Longneck buddy Clawstick do his job for him.

Clawstick is a surprisingly important member of the clan, acting as an ambassador of the beastclans. Multiple times, Icetalon has had to talk Moonlord out of eating him. As the leader's son-in-law, he usually succeeds. There was one time he failed, but Clawstick is a surprisingly adept warrior, stronger than many dragons in the clan. Moonlord still refuses to stand in the same room in all but the gravest circumstances, as the Longneck's presence is a surefire way to put the Guardian in a bad mood.

On the topic of his family, Icetalon is the mate of Silverwings, daughter of Moonlord. He is also the father of her hatchlings. Moonlord has always been very disapproving of this, and actually flew into a rage following his initial discovery of that fact. The tyrant of a Guardian is the reason only two of Icetalon's daughters are still with the clan. The tundra and his mate have had several clutches, but those two guardian girls are the only two that did not attract Moonlord's negative attention. All their siblings are serving the Shadowbinder now.

When powerful elemental surges across Sornieth began to alter how dragons displayed their element, no dragon born into the Wispwalkers was particularly affected. Except Icetalon. It is very well known that he is a part-time spellcaster and healer, but few know that he is one of the strongest shadow mages in the clan, second only to perhaps Arcaestain himself, maybe Smoglurker. With each surge of elemental power that approached the clan's territories, Icetalon felt it-- physically. Negatively. Painfully.

It did something to him. Something that even the Wispwalkers --unintentional haven for Shifters and Death-touched as it may be-- hadn't ever seen before. It was faintly reminiscent of a shadow dragon with Death's Touch, but different. Whereas a Death-touched shadow dragon might be flickering in and out of existence, disappearing in all but direct light and getting very sick when in direct light, Icetalon did none of that. Instead, it was like he became a black hole for darkness itself, pulling in every scrap of shadow until it radiated out of him like an aura. His eyes darkened, lost their sclera, and even began to leak liquid shadow like the Shadowbinder herself does. Whenever this occurred, he would seemingly lose his mind, going on rampages that thankfully never ended in any critical injury or property damage.

It was only with the help of the other active mages that the surges were controlled. Icetalon came very close to losing himself in it, and yet now, you wouldn't even be able to tell if not for one detail. His condition was only cured by powerful magics on Arcaestain's part, suppressing a great deal of Icetalon's newfound power. As such, his eye colour, the physical expression of his element, has faded from the usual deep purple to a fainter amethyst. But he is, at face value, the same happy and seemingly-naive dragon as ever. Only those who know him well could tell you easily that something about him has changed.

Not long after, Icetalon became almost scholarly. Distant. Spending unusual amounts of time in the Deep Archives, searching through some of the oldest texts with what could almost be described as an Arcane-like fervour. It wasn't very well known why. But it eventually became evident that he was retracing his steps. Learning about his history, and where he came from. Considering that only Moonlord knew where he came from, this is quite a feat. This journey led him far from the clan territory, to the Hall of Lost Secrets on the edge of the Tangled Woods.

Icetalon was gone for months, his single-minded focus so great that he never even realized he was forgetting his family back home.
When he finally returned to the Wispwalkers with his new mate Eryl and their eggs in tow, the clan was thrown into an uproar. Silverwings has refused to speak to Icetalon since, so he still doesn't remember who she is.

Icetalon has been stressed, and confused, and isolating himself from everyone except for his son and Shadowslash. He still doesn't understand what is going on, and he's not sure how to move forward. Especially now that threatening letters, signed by a figure from his past, have started arriving-- a fact that he has never admitted to anyone.
He's just keeping his head down in his work, hoping in vain that his problems will leave on their own.

____He's a good dragon. Well, good as any dragon can be. I swear, he's the only guy that's never contemplated eating me at some point.
Probably because he doesn't even eat meat. Don't mistake his pacifisim for being passive, though.
He's actually a pretty decent guard. If another dragon passes by that he doesn't remember, he tackles them, smells them, and either apologises or sends them running based on that. Unless it's Smoglurker, or Cygnus, or one of those guys. He tends to leave them alone.

____He's definitely the supporting type though. He's not only kind to everyone, but he's pretty much the only dragon around here who actually knows how to heal someone, making him a favourite with a lot of us. Maybe less so after all the elemental stuff made him go haywire that time, but can you really blame that on him? He's really just a 300-kilo ball of fuzz and heart. He wouldn't hurt anyone intentionally. A few people around here could learn from him, actually.

Mama Twister

Icetalon's original mother figure, she raised him and taught him magic after he was rescued as a young hatchling. A seer, she receives (often random) visions of the future which she uses to guide and protect her family and clan. She means the world to him, and would do anything for her. She's also (as far as he knows) dead.

Fortuna

Icetalon's friend and colleague from his old life, Fortuna was assertive when she needed to be, but was otherwise quite in the background. She was the dragon Icetalon confided in the most, although that's not to say he didn't keep secrets from her.

Bayou

The first ever direction of Icetalon's romantic affections. Potion-maker and occasional healer, he fell in love with her but was too shy to tell her for fear it would ruin their working relationship. He never actually got the chance to tell her. She was the only member of Marusya's old clan not to be killed or exiled.

Vardijurn

Powerful Necromancer and Icetalon's long-time enemy, their relationship only deteriorated when the murders in the clan began. Having always been diametrically opposed on the topic of healing vs bringing back the dead, Icetalon firmly advocated for Vardijurn's exile. The two only reunited months later when he sought out the skydancer to decipher his increasingly coded research notes.
It was Vardijurn that looked after Icetalon while he was planning his final great act of magic, making sure he was still eating and looking after himself.
