Hikari had a simple life with his parents in a small clan, at least found himself lost as a kiddo one day when he was out with his parents. However he wasn't a weak kiddo like Ento was at first, and he knew how to fight when necessary. So instead of seeking his parents (in fact he quickly forgot about them) he simply adapted to living in the wild instead.

One day on his travels he discovers Ento, Molo, and Gist, and while he's wary at first (maybe thinks the bugs are attacking Ento?) the three bug frens reassure him that it's okay (though Ento is nervous about being seen). Luckily for her though, Hikari doesn't know how a coatl is SUPPOSED to sound, so he doesn't mind her weird buzzing tone at all. and in fact, with the help of Molo and Gist he begins to learn the buzzing language so that the two can communicate, and so he can be her translator when needed and soon they become best frins uwu
