Biography

jYHufzK.png
((story by Velyanthe, Art by Auxotroph))

Amiya is a quiet Imperial, content to find a comfortable spot in which to sit and watch other dragons play or work. Most of her clan is fond of her. She speaks little, but they enjoy the companionable silence, and some talk to her while she listens, venting about something or simply sharing their experiences with her. Her mind is filled with their thoughts and stories, and often she dreams about going off on adventures on her own.

Much like her mate, Dave, she is a near embodiment of happiness, getting along splendidly with hatchlings. The two have vastly different energy levels, but make quite the happy couple, with few disagreements and no arguments. Amiya is excellent at preventing and solving conflict, but not perfect; at times, she retreats to a solitary place to escape uncomfortable situations. Luckily, few dragons have ever seen her violent temper, which can become nasty, given the wrong situation.

--

Amiya slept comfortably, eyes shut despite the sunlight filtering into the lair. She was always a heavy sleeper, and as much as she loved the sun and mornings, she simply refused to wake at a reasonable time. Her tail thumped softly, indicative of some sort of happy dream she was having.

At least, until she was woken up by one of Dave’s birds. Anyone outside the lair could hear the squawk and loud thump that followed, the bird escaping quickly to go spread mischief elsewhere. The Imperial stretched before finally getting up, giving pointed glances to silence the young dragons giggling at her.

She wandered over to the river, expecting it to be silent as always, but quickly found Dave chattering away to a couple of Tundras, apparently finishing up a story. Amiya quite liked Tundras; they were much like her, listening instead of speaking, and she preferred their company to that of most other dragons, especially chatty Spirals.

Curling up next to Dave (who had a few of his ever-present bird friends on his shoulders) and letting some of his birds fly out from the bushes to settle themselves on her neck, she listened to the end of his story and watched the others leave. He hopped over to her excitedly and she grinned. “I can’t imagine listening to one of your stories so early in the morning is an easy feat, even for a Tundra,” she teased.

“Never too early for a good story!” Dave protested jovially, stomping his foot half-heartedly. Truthfully, the two were quite happy to see each other alone, and often joked with each other; it was one of the few times Amiya ever felt like speaking.

She raised her eyebrows. “You’re fidgeting?” she said, tilting her head as well. Her mate was never nervous, and while she would normally be concerned, he was still rather happy. Confused, she looked at him curiously. She was slightly startled when a couple birds flew off of him and onto her, agitated by his excessive movement.

“Well, you see… you know I quite like you, and we’ve been together for some time…” Amiya nodded slowly and expectantly as he spoke, slightly amused at his sudden shyness; it contrasted his regular personality so much!

Shaking his head (and distressing the rest of the birds on him, who flapped off noisily in protest), Dave pulled out a small package from its hiding spot under a bush. He offered it to the Imperial, attempting to contain his excitement as she took it. Opening the rough leather to reveal what was inside, Amiya’s expression turned to one of delight.

It was a gorgeous pink bow which perfectly matched Dave’s favorite purple bow. She let him put it on her, and she thumped her tail on the ground happily as she smiled at him. He always knew the best way to brighten her day.

Her silent smile was enough for him, and so he started chattering on about another long story to her alone as they sat and watched the river flow by under the noon sunshine.
