Biography
Helex is from the Starwood Strand. He was born to a clan that straddled the Starfall Isles and the Scarred Wasteland, and most of the pack he hunted with was Plague-aligned. Once he came of age, he struck out on his own, bored of both the beauty of the Arcanist's domain and the disease of the Plaguebringer's. A more capable caster than most Mirrors, Helex eventually developed a taste for hunting by himself - it's hard to set up an ambush if the rest of your hunting party is mindlessly ravening, after all. Even with his Arcane magic, Helex found that there was only so much he could take on by himself, and he missed the thrill of hunting something big. Eventually his travels brought him to the trading post, in the Tangled Wood, where he met Charaxa, who was guarding a trade envoy on its way from the just-founded Clan Lambent. Charaxa first hired him to provide additional protection on the journey back to the Sunbeam Ruins. After fighting off a flock of Greybeak Reapers together, Charaxa was impressed by Helex's prowess in battle, and Helex remembered how much more fun it is to fight with allies. By the time they returned to the clan's home (then a small part of the Mirrorlight Promenade,) Helex agreed to join Charaxa's clan. Ever since he was a hatchling, Helex has had a strong affinity for magic. His connection to the arcane energies that flow through Sornieth allows him to move eerily quickly, and sometimes enemy attacks will seem to glitch right through him. Whenever he uses his magic (which is often,) arcane magic clings to him, giving him a strange, unsettling appearance. Helex and Palis were mates for some time after Helex first moved to the Sunbeam Ruins, although now whether they're together or not depends on when you ask. They're close, but Palis always seems uncomfortable with Helex's innate viciousness, and after a few days Helex tends to start to find Palis somewhat boring. They never fight, at least not in front of anyone, and handle their various - and repeated - reunions and separations very privately, and Charaxa has never been protective of her daughter, so this leads to no strife beyond what Helex and Palis feel and do not share with others.
