ALETHEIA - mate

PERSONALITY

Thrasos is a skysinger, affectionately hailed as the prince of the Whispering Forest. Cherry blossoms are delicately draped over his translucent wings, held together with spun gold. He has an air of grace and elegance that at first enchants others, but when he speaks he's actually rather playful and down to earth. Thrasos is a wanderer that loves to take walks, the sound of his voice never trailing far behind him.

10.png With viridescent eyes twinkling like jewels, Thrasos catches the attention of many a dragon on his morning walks. It's almost as if the flowers bloom brighter in his wake, turning as he hums a gentle tune. Everyone under the canopy knows, of course, that his eyes will only look at his beloved, Aletheia.

ABOUT

Thrasos has always been the wandering type. Often times his siblings found him high up top some tree or down some path they didn't even know existed, whistling and humming as he enjoyed the warmth of the sun. They always knew there was magic to his words, and encouraged him to become a skysinger to make something of his gift. Ever the laid-back type, Thrasos agreed, so long as it meant he was free to go wherever the wind took him.

To the other dragons, Thrasos and Aletheia seemed to have been made for each other. As childhood sweethearts, they have known only each other's love and did not want for anything else. Fate was not so kind to them, however, and they were wrested from each other's embrace. Keeping hope alive that the Gladekeeper watch over them both in their stead, they continued on, pleading desperately for the day where they could meet again.

After being separated for what felt an eternity, Thrasos was reunited with Aletheia one autumn morning. He often sang until his voice cracked and his throat parched, hoping his words were near enough to reach her. And then, it finally did.

Through the thicket of trees in the unfamiliar Whispering Forest, Aletheia came racing, leaping into Thrasos' arms in a whirlwind of leaves and petals. The two were overcome with relief and joy, teardrops falling from their eyes like dew.

Since then, they have made the Whispering Forest their home, and wander no more.

COMMENTS

When I think of our beautiful little community and how important its message and cause is, I think of Thrasos. I adopted his mate, Aletheia, first and quickly noticed her long offspring list. Going through her list my heart softened to see that, not only had she been mated to the same dragon for 4 years, but also that their offspring had their own special personalities and outfits put together by their respective owners. It got me thinking, really thinking, about the legacy that old dragons leave, and how it was so easy for pairs to be separated, how easily that legacy can end. They were no exception, having been separated at some point. But seeing that Thrasos was still around in a fellow OO member's tab gave me the courage to hesitantly ask about, and adopt, him.

I will never forget the kindness and giving nature of this community, that has let me reunite the two. The fact that there are others on this site who appreciate keeping old dragon families together, that they're willing to entertain a stranger's request touched me deeply, and it's become something I strive to continue doing as a foster home myself. While we all have our own reasons for rescuing and rehoming, one thing we all have in common is making sure old dragons can move on to a home that's ready and waiting for them. Because there is one!

Hello, stranger, I see you've come near
No worries- you'll find a good home here
With many a new friend and good times galore
Come with me, there is so much to explore!

What's this? Your wings refuse to tuck?
Goodbye then, sweet boy, safe travels; good luck
Fly away on home to where your heart waits
To a warm and cozy nest beside your mate's

But please know that our offer stands
Wherever you trek in foreign lands
Should your heart grow restless or seek to stray
With us you will find a warm place to stay

Dear Thrasos,
As I stumbled my way through the Whispering Woods,
I found myself humming the song you were always singing
The same song that brought me back to you
The same singing that made the grass greener,
The flowers brighter and the birds louder.

~ Aletheia
