Biography
Rafiel
"Don't ever think that the reason I'm peaceful is because I don't know how to be violent."

Keen-eyed Sentry
Hailing from The Beacon, Rafiel grew up watching the ocean from his tower home. Adventure wasn't the reason he kept his eyes to the sea--- he started watching ships as a passing interest that bloomed into full intrigue by his teenage years. He naturally settled into a sentry position with the clan guard, a post that allowed him to watch the eastern coast and ply his childhood interest of the ships for clan benefit.A windborn clanmate furthered Rafiel's knowledge by teaching him about clouds and weather. He soaked up the knowledge like the light dragon he is, studying the sky with new interest as he tried to determine what the winds were bringing ashore with the ships. Other sentries laughed at him for having his heads in the clouds while on the job, so absorbed was he in trying to guess the weather. Rafiel changed posts shortly thereafter, realizing his interest wasn't entirely as a sentry and sea watcher anymore, but more into climatology. Despite his shifting interest, he never let his training lapse, and was a regular in the sparring rings with the other guards.
An Unanticipated Move
His life was comfortable and Rafiel never considered moving away from his clan, and certainly never considered leaving Light. Circumstances put him down at the docks that fateful day, and a sharp eyed captain noticed his gaze on the clouds. They got to talking, and before he really realized, the honey-tongued ship master had him signed to the crew as their eyes in the crow's nest. Getting used to the swaying of the ship exaggerated by the height was a challenge, and he's sorry to say he threw up on the deck below more than once. The captain developed a permanent pearlized slick one place in particular when the mess wasn't cleaned up quick enough.Six months at sea was more than enough for him. He got off at the next port after a particularly bad storm and swore never to get on another boat unless it was one headed for home. Unfortunately for him, that boat would have to wait. Nature was experiencing particularly bad flooding the year he arrived, and the port closed after his arrival because the ships couldn't get close due to debris washing out of the Gladeveins. Rafiel had endured storms in the Beacon, but watching the coast slowly erode wasn't the same as the hourly changes storms caused in the Veins. The daily changes in topography intrigued him more than he cared to admit aloud, and his stay at the port slowly became a stay in a nearby clan, and then a stay deeper into Nature territory.
