Magik There is a legend whispered by many, a fable of a time when the blood moon hung full. When the world was wrapped in scarlet darkness, and strong were the shadows' pull. Those who knew the darkness, knew to hide from the crimson crepuscule. Alas, among all the masses, there would always be that one fool. A lightning mage known for thoughtlessness dared stray out on the unholy night. He defied the sanguine moon, and thus delivered upon himself much plight. The scarlet moon stole away his legacy, the darkness took his form. His heart together they shattered, and his soul they saw to torn. Nothing was left but a ghost of a shadow, naught exclude a trick of light. And devoid of all but identity, what was left of the mage fled; took flight. Over hills, carried by winds, his terror pushed him along. He hid himself away in a secluded cave, shivering and wondering what went wrong. It was a long time till his fright faded; and his heart thrummed an angry song. How dare the moon reject him, how dare the darkness spurn his call? He swore to himself, then and there, that alone, he would make them fall. He would take back what was rightfully his, he would rule over the night, the stars, sky, moon and all. |

Thus began the forbidden magical rituals; thus began a descent into the dark. The mage searched vengefully for spells, for a way to restore his stolen heart. He took the forms of other dragons, possessed all but the strongest few. He used his hosts mercilessly, and slowly, his legacy grew.
Powerful mages of the Scarred Wasteland saw that this half-dead dragon must go - for he brought grief and devastation, and many souls he stole. They came together on one evening, the strongest of the strong, and decided that as one, they must put an end to all the wrongs. They found the shadow of the mage easily with tracking spells at the tips of their claws. They told him to lay down his arms, to let go, to accept his flaws. They promised that they would aid him, help him recover his form. But the mage simply spat at them - all their ideas he scorned. He wanted vengeance against the moon, he wanted to summon doom. He did not mind being but a spirit, for this way his powers could bloom. He was not special, he told them, back when he was but a mortal mage. But now he is eternal and powerful, and no longer bound by age. |

The Plague mages saw that they would not convince him, and so their plan commenced. They sought to bind and trap him, and banish him forever hence. In the body of another dragon, the lightning mage could use powers without a second thought. Spells that destroyed one's form were no concern to him as he fought. But inevitably, he would lose, for the advantage of many consumed the stance of one. They finally caught him in a trap, and their chanting rose in an ominous song. Desperation captured the lightning mage and he struggled to escape. As the binding spell reached its end, his eyes could be seen flashing with hate. A large tremor accompanied the finished spell, and the mages stepped back to observe their work. Before them in a magical binding, the lightning mage's host could be seen in the murk. The poor host was unmoving, life gone as quickly as a candle in a breeze. The look of the broken dragon did not help the mages put their minds to ease. Did it work? They asked each other. Was he truly gone? A shiver ran up their spines, and the answer they weren't too fond. One of their own was missing, an imperial of maroon scales so bright, and if they searched for him - they'll find that his eyes now glow with an angry cyan light... |
