PREVIEW
NAME is obsessed with the comet riders that spin their stardust trails around the Focal Point.
As a hatchling, before he learned to fly, he would climb the spreading branches of the Starwood birches and perch among the glimmering flowers to watch the meteors fall, and swoop, and rise again, carrying their alien passengers back up into the void.
He has since traded the strange woods for the crystalline peaks of the Focal Point itself. He follows the asteroids as they streak through the skies above, clambering over chalcedony peaks in the hopes of one day capturing a comet for himself. His coat and wings are painted with trails of astral dust, which lend him a taste of the meteors' interstellar powers: a little extra boost against Sornieth's natural gravity whenever he takes flight.

NAME has an affinity with the Starwood Strand's native birch trees. With a little concentration, she can call upon the magic within them and ask the night-flowers to blossom or wish for the star-like twinkle of bioluminescent filaments to light up even at the height of noon.
She tends to a large grove of birches deep within the Star Wood, extracting their sap with care and selling it to local clans to light their blue-flamed lanterns.
She loves the company of her precious birches above all else.

NAME loves the aurora. It is just visible from the southernmost parts of the Starwood Strand, and at night she watches for it from the twinkling tops of the night-flowering trees.
For NAME hears the southern lights. They sing to her, building from a single, unbroken note and evolving into a harmonious and hypnotic symphony the longer she watches the shifting patterns of blue and green across the horizon.

Shadorma's gem-studded hide crackles with magical energy. The stones that she carries act as earthing points for threads of magic.
She travels the ley lines that criss-cross Sornieth, following the flow of power wherever it might take her. As she walks or flies, arcs of spitting, sparking magic form out of thin air to connect with her gems and ground themselves within her body. As a result, she hardly needs to rest, or eat, or sleep: the magic she absorbs gives her all the energy and strength she needs. She is able to call upon the ley lines' power in battle, making her a formidable opponent. Her stones allow her to draw on a constant stream of borrowed magic, and give her the ability to keep hurling spells at her opponents long after they run out of Breath. |
