Ceres is the largest object in the asteroid belt lying between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter, comprising approximately one third of the asteroid belt's total mass. Water makes up half of her volume, some of which is speculated to be in liquid form beneath an icy mantle; thus she is one of eight celestial bodies potentially able to support life.

--Thrill of the Hunt--

Somewhere in the depths of the ocean, a benevolent denizen slumbers.

In her youth, the goddess Ceres was known far and wide as a goddess of good fortune and plenty, blessing her followers with bountiful hunts and full fishing nets, even in the most frigid of climates.

Tributes to Ceres included luxurious seal pelts, intricately fashioned jewelry made of bone and glass, and beautifully woven baskets full of meals cooked from the food Ceres helped her followers to obtain, floated out into the freezing waters. With selkies as her motif, it was not uncommon for villages to have seal carvings throughout a village and in individual homes, creating small shrines in her honor.

Though she was known as a mostly generous goddess, prone to kindness and good humor, finding oneself as the subject of her ire could quickly prove fatal as she possessed the ability to spoil hunts and leave fishing expeditions returning with empty nets.

However, her influence, for better or worse, one day ceased inexplicably. Her gifts floated into the ocean unclaimed, her shrines collected frost, and the outcome of her follower's prosperity was no longer under her control. She had, for unknown reasons, completely vanished, along with her consort, Hafrun, Goddess of the Icy Depths.

As time passed, she became a mere memory, a tradition passed down from generation to generation. Today seal totems are still a common trinket carried by fisher dragons in the northern realms, though any prayers whispered to them remain unanswered.
