Time Devourer 		My time has come.

My lungs still try to breathe for me, every inhale a challenge. My heart still tries to beat for me, every thump a milestone. Though my eyes have nearly failed me, I can still just see my beautiful children and beloved friends surrounding me. Knowing that they will succeed me brings me unimaginable peace.

The unimaginable. The final hour.

My ears cannot register the hushed words that they speak, but I know that they are words of comfort and love. They surely grew tired of hearing me say it, but I wish I had the strength to share my love with them one last time. But there’s no time for regret. I have done what I have done and it’s time to move on.

Something shifts, and my world spins. An icy numbness strikes through my heart and crawls to the outer edges of my body. My vision blurs, the world goes silent… or is it roaring in my ears? I’m scared. I want to sweat and shake, I want my body to convulse and run. I suddenly feel fear and pain unlike anything I’ve experienced before.

Suddenly, a blanket of darkness envelops me. As quickly as it started, my fear, my pain, the chaos, stops. All is a deafening silence. All is… a warm embrace. I didn’t notice until now, but a dazzling night sky of stars looms overhead. I’m floating in a blessed abyss of night and serenity. How long have I been here? Has it always been this way?

A massive, pitch-black figure, too large and omniscient to comprehend, holds me in its arms. Its wings, the very same sky with the pinpricks of starlight, cloud my entire view. I don’t even know if this is what I’m seeing, or what I am becoming. What I always have been, and what I always will be?

So the legends are true, I realize with amusement. He delivers us into the night, far beyond eternity, into what can never be known.
