Biography
Cassadaga
The Diviner
The Diviner
"And, you know, it's kind of like with people and the tarot cards- just because you get the Death card doesn't mean death or dying; it means transformation. It means changing things around and starting something new." Cassadaga was kind, once. Soft-spoken, gentle, and knowledgeable about all things, he was gifted with a keen talent in the fine art of divination. Using small bird bones kept in a satchel and a special deck of tarot cards, he was able to accurately predict the answers to many of his peers' questions- both about their individual futures and his own. It was said that he'd been blessed by the Plaguebringer herself with these skills and talents, and though he's unsure now of who mentioned it first, it was suggested to him that he undertake the Plaguebringer's Necromancy trials since it was obvious he'd been blessed with her favour. Wary of attempting such a feat, he attempted to predict whether or not he would succeed in the trials by reading his future with his tarot cards. He predicted success. Armed with this knowledge, he agreed to take the trials, but could not have known that just because he would succeed didn't mean he would not suffer greatly. He should have heeded the warnings that came with the 'Death' card he drew that day; the transformation it foretold of would be complete and all-consuming. Cassadaga was a benevolent dragon, once. He enjoyed using his talents to help aid the other dragons that shared a lair with him, but after completing the final trial, he withdrew his offers of aid. Already having been known as a quiet dragon, Cassadaga can hardly now be pressed for words. He largely keeps to himself, and only occasionally spares words of counsel to his new clan's leader, Nocturne. He was recruited to this lair by Queezle, who had heard tales of his incredible gifts of fortune telling. In her, Cassadaga feels a strong sense of camaraderie, as she is the only dragon with whom he can share his pain, but she has motivations of her own for keeping the Imperial close. Blessed twice over by the Plaguebringer, Cassadaga now keeps his talents in divination and infection largely to himself, though he can be pressed to predict when the next wave of sickness will threaten to overtake the clan. He will do little to help prepare for it, though, and uses his soothsaying abilities now to help ease the passing of other dragons instead of curing them outright. It was the Plaguebringer's will to infect them, after all; who was he to reject her? Cassadaga was happy, once. He is now a grim and solemn caricature of the dragon he used to be. |
