Biography

Frokeontir, the Mad Prince

One would have never thought that Frokeontir had been the child of the leaders of the Inner Ring.

The arrogant and disdainful dragon had been adopted by Odin and Ymir when he was rather young, too young to remember anything of his birth parents. Odin and Ymir loved their son dearly, but as the young Skydancer aged, he quickly proved himself to be far more than they could ever possibly handle. Despite Odin and Ymir’s best efforts, Frokeontir grew into a disdainful, arrogant dragon, who consistently defied both them and the rules of the clan, causing mayhem wherever he went. His appalling behavior was further amplified by the onset of insanity, which caused him to slip in and out of lucidity so frequently that he soon succumbed to his madness completely. Once released from the confinements of rational thought, Frokeontir became utterly obsessed with increasing his personal wealth and power, no matter the consequences.

Still, despite their son’s greed and lust for power, Odin and Ymir never dreamed that he would ever become dangerous.

That all changed after Frokeontir was caught attempting to murder the clan’s Starkeeper, Cepheus.

Odin and Ymir had no choice but to expel their son from the Inner Ring, forcing Frokeontir and his familiar, a Bubbling Goblin, into the lesser territories of the clan. While it pained Odin and Ymir immensely to banish Frokeontir, they hoped that the punishment would clear Frokeontir’s head and return him to sanity.

Unfortunately, Frokeontir was soon discovered by Seth.

Seth quickly persuaded Frokeontir to join his Court of Shadows. While Frokeontir needed little convincing, his familiar was not quite so eager to join Seth’s forces. Unfortunately, when the Bubbling Goblin attempted to stop Frokeontir, the Skydancer grew angry, killing his familiar in his rage.

Under Seth’s wing, Frokeontir, (or Cerritus, as he’s now called) has flourished in his position in the Court of Shadows. His greed for both riches and power is endless, and he is always seeking out ways to expand his holdings. His bloodlust is just as infinite- he is well known for his violent outbursts, which occur at the slightest provocation. He has even attempted to murder several members of the Court of Shadows, although he has not yet succeeded in that endeavour.

His cruelty is endless, even extending to the familiars who accompany him. His latest victim is a Raptorik Bladedancer, which he found wandering the farthest reaches of the Outer Ring. While the Bladedancer had been initially defiant, the creature’s mind has now been shattered completely. It now obeys Frokeontir’s every command and whim without question.
Frokeontir has been an indispensable part of Seth’s rebellion against Odin and Ymir. While it’s unclear if Frokeontir feels any sort of love for his parents, he’s certainly interested in their thrones- it’s no secret that Frokeontir dreams about becoming the Patriarch of the clan. Thankfully, Seth seems to have reigned in Frokeontir’s ambitions for the most part- the Skydancer has yet to make any real grabs at power.

Scrape. Scrape. Scrape.
Smoke didn’t think much of the sound at the time. Scrapes were common in here; Dragons were walking against the bare stone, and their claws often scratched the floor. What did grab her attention, however, was the sound of the soft jingle of jewelry.
Inner Ring dragons didn’t usually come into her underground home; they sent their servants, or their clients from the Middle, in order to receive blessings. The only Inners she knew that came in regularly were Ymir, Magnus for his daily Light Givings, and Frokeontir when they were..together.
A little hiss escaped her. Back when Frokeontir wasn’t the mad prince he was today. When he was… slightly sane.
When he was… cute. He still is, said a tiny portion of her mind, quiet and unsettling.

Scrape. Scrape. Scrape.
That noise again. But closer, much, much closer. She could smell the dragon by now; being blind meant her senses were that much better to compensate for the lack of sight. Cologne, the air of arrogance that was present on all of the Inner Rings. The slightest whiff of expensive prey brought from the different regions of Sornieth. And… Magic.
This was an Arcane dragon. But.. which Arcane was in the Inner Ring?
There was Amaterasu, Ymir’s heir maker.. Esmir, the Mad One, but he was imprisoned far below, not here..
Before her thoughts could finish, a sharp voice forced her out.
“Knock, knock!” Came a cheery voice. Far too cheery.
Her breath caught in her throat. No.
It was.. Frokeontir.
The blue and heavily jeweled Skydancer had swaggered into her cave with an almost spring in his steps, happy and carefree.
Like the prince she loved once ago.
“Smoke, my love! Did you miss me? Because banishment was quite an.. experience, wouldn’t you say?” She could almost imagine him baring his teeth in something that resembled a grin.

“Leave me. The Lightweaver does not need your presence here. You were banished. Why are you here?” She barked, as her voice wavered without her consent.

“Am I not allowed to say hello to my lover?” He hissed. “A simple ‘Hello there, Frokeontir, my lover!’ would’ve sufficed.”
“You are not welcome here.” She repeated. “Leave this place, or I will forced to handle you myself. Why are you here? Answer my question first.”

“Fine then.” He huffed. She could almost hear his lip growing into a pout, reminding her of an oversized toddler. He was growing closer.
“I’ve come to take back what is mine. And by mine, I mean you.” He was right next to her now, breath hot on her ear; he smelled the same as she remembered. He wrapped his tail, covered with thorny branches and a tiny charm on the hairy end, around hers, free of any apparel.

Her heartbeat grew quick; she hated when he did this, even back when they were a couple. This usually meant he would ask her to bed, with or without her consent, or explode into one of his fits.

“Don’t you think that’s a splendid idea? Me, you and the Court of Shadows, living together! We could start a family, even. Little Frokeontirs, flying around and laughing all over the place!” He sighed, his tone taking the ‘In the middle of a daydream’ voice, as she had grown so accustomed to.
“Of course, if you don’t want to go with me, I suppose we could devise another way to get you into my claws again, wouldn’t you agree?” She could smell the scent of a Lunar Lacewing on his breath. He nibbled at her ear and a sharp gasp erupted. A soft chuckle traveled from Frokeontir’s chest to her ears and she cursed herself for having such a sensitive ear.
Gritting her teeth, she spoke as clearly as she could without telling her fear show.
“I am not going with you. To go with a banished dragon, a dragon accused of murdering, is not a wise choice. Neither your parents, nor the Lightweaver would approve.”

A growl erupted from the prince’s throat as he untangled his tail from Smoke’s, standing up beside her.

“Bah! Who cares about those old fogies. We don’t even know if the Gods are real!” He laughed, ignoring the subtle fanning of Smoke’s tail wings in aggression.

“And besides, those geriatric codgers don’t know left from right. You would be much better off with me.” He whispered seductively, positioning himself right in front of her face.

She clawed the right side of his face with all the strength she could muster, and he stumbled back, a strangled gasp escaping his mouth. She turned heel and ran, ready to inform Ymir that his son was back and to remove him from here, kill her she didn’t care-
Then she was on the floor, gasping for breath as Frokeontir forced his entire bodyweight onto her throat.

“How dare you.” Came his voice out of breath, still clearly recovering from the surprise attack. “How.. splendid. I didn’t know you had a fight in you, you disgusting Coatl.” He spoke, gently caressing the area she had clawed him.
“Too bad the fight’s gone now, eh? You unholy demon. Bow down to my will. You are coming with me regardless of your personal opinion.” He hissed, his face very, very close to hers now.
Then, he forced his mouth into hers, and her brain shut down.
