Tyrith may be mute, but she is a very expressive dragon. She conveys most of her feelings through facial expressions, something other dragons often find amusing. She does know sign language, but prefers not to use it to communicate. After all, it's hard to sign and swing a sword at the same time. Her looks are often very judgmental, and dragons around her often feel like they are under intense scrutiny. She's also incredibly stubborn and set in her ways, so often takes charge of situations rather than following another person's plans.

In an effort to extend their reaches and therefore their cause, the Night Warriors sent some hatchlings to various combat schools around Sornieth. One of these was Tyrith, who was sent as a young hatchling to the witcher school in the Carrion Canyon. Unfortunately, something in Tyrith's Night Warrior blood stopped the various potions that would normally turn a dragon into a witcher from working. What they instead did was rob Tyrith of her voice, rendering her silent.
Despite the set back, Tyrith was still kept at the school to finish her combat training. She learned quickly, and didn't let her silence stop her from succeeding. She left the school a few years before its collapse, and joined the military forces of Deargard.
