Lady of the First Snows

Miryna, sometimes called Muryna, Muriina or Mureena, is a minor goddess of the snow who appears in the legends of the peoples of the Northern Forests. It is said that she walks through the forest at the beginning of winter and leaves a trail of snow in her wake. Snow sages can study the First Snowfall and interpret it to tell how the coming winter will be.

Miryna is the daughter of Pthalu, the Goddess of Ice and Snow. She came to love the peoples and animals of the Northern Forest and so she felt compelled to aid them however she could. However, the minor gods and goddesses of the Northern Pantheon must respect the Will of the major gods and goddesses and so Miryna is limited in what she can do. Her mother permits her to give signs to the humans and animals through her snow magic. A light, glittery snowfall is a sign that the winter shall be easier and full of good cheer while a heavy snow that freezes the skin is a sign that the winter will bring danger to the inhabitants of the region.

As snowfall is rare in the southern reaches Miryna is mostly unknown to people outside the Northern Forest region.
