TRAINER & CAPTAIN
TRAINER & CAPTAIN

|
"Motivation is one of the biggest obstacles when it comes to getting stronger. "Well, it is in our own nature to try to avoid pain and discomfort, we all are lazy sometimes. Exercise is uncomfortable and tiring, there is no denying that, but if you make the training interesting, enjoyable even, everyone can push through it owns limits. "That's what I love doing; motivating dragons that are at the brink of giving up, pushing them even higher than they would have ever dreamed of getting."
Any dragon that comes to Sorey will first be asked, what it wants out of its training. Common desires are to gain strength and flexibility, improve stamina, to build wing muscle or a combination of all of these. The trainer will then assess the dragons or hatchlings current level of fitness, observing its strengths and weaknesses and based on that planning the individual training schedule.
Sorey also prepares the young hatchlings of the clan for the bridging test of wind dragon's aptitude towards adulthood and the final trial in the vortex. He teaches them how to do the exercises and to make sure they’re doing them correctly. Exercising is supposed to be fun and Sorey makes sure to avoid boring repetitions/tasks, creating a nice and interesting environment. Every hatchling of the clan will at last be trained to Level 5 by Sorey and Kiah before being sent out to explore the world. |

~ Chasing the Winds and Unspoken Fear~
The two trainers stood, wings folded neatly at their sides, and looked down over the hatchlings gathered for training. A guardian warrior was seated to their right, his scales were a deep purple and his sharp green eyes scanned the sea of faces. With a deep breath the Skydancer walked out on the ledge and signaled for the hatchlings to stop talking. Their murmurs died down soon enough, and he cleared his throat. "We are here today to have you take the final trial, the flight in the vortex." Whispers of opinions passed between the dragons. His whiskers twitched in impatience at their continued talking, and he began to speak over them. “You will have one hour at most to fly into the vortex and retrieve five paper lanterns. There will be five tests, each test with ten hatchlings and the last with the overflow of two", he continued, waving his cleaver as he spoke. It seemed to be a habit, and the hatchlings knew this, but still flinched every time it was heavily thrown about his head. “The test will begin in ten minutes. I will read out the names of those participating in the first test....” Sorey proceeded to list out the names, and then those of each test after and so on. The first batch of hatchlings began to walk over to the wind storm, wearing special protective steampunk equipment. The hatchlings also held a little red flare carefully in their talons. When thrown it would burst into a red firework; and that meant danger. One particular hatchling caught his eye as his two helpers, Kiah and Edval, settled down more comfortably against the rock. The hatchling was a deep purple and had a shimmering gold belly. It’s eyes were a blank white and it was obviously blind. “Excuse me-” Sorey started to ask, but the hatchling took off immediately on rather small wings. Sorey sighed, turning to sit and watch the swirling storm from the rocks. Nothing he could do about it now, anyways. Then a feeling began to trickle down his spine. It felt like melting ice, cold water splashing down his back and invading; crawling under his scales. He jumped to his feet just as a very pale red firework lit up inside of the storm. As he leaped and began to fly at full speed, his nocturne friend by his side, he noticed something. The firework was fired at an odd angle, as if someone were falling while casting the flare. A chill swept over his wings like a cold breeze. They flew through the outer barrier with expertise, weaving in between floating objects and for where the flare had been fired. Particles of the firework were still being thrown about and he coughed as he struggled to see in the whirlwind of leaves. Something clawed at his heart, telling him to look down. He did, and he felt sick at what he saw. Pulling his wings tight against his body, Sorey shot down like an arrow fired from heaven. It was the blind hatchling. He just knew. And the blind hatchling was spiraling into his doom. With desperate wingbeats he dived with all his power. He slammed into the ground far, far below; and pain shot up his legs. Kiah landed gracefully beside him, hurrying immediately to the hatchling’s side. Sorey felt as if he were in a cage. There was nowhere for him to go, and nothing to do but stare. The blind hatchling was sprawled in the dirt, eyes open and blank as Kiah felt for his pulse and lifted him into her arms. They stared up into the sky, and the glowing red dust floated down; landing on his nose and gathering on his scales. Sorey could not hear the storm, it was completely silent. A blanket of night had just covered his vision, and he almost lost consciousness. Falling to his knees, he reached out to touch the hatchling’s cold forehead. Tears welled in his eyes as he saw the little hatchling’s paws. Kiah did too, solemnly watching. They were now forever to be stuck with a word. It was a dragon language that was spoken with their claws, and it was commonly used among disabled dragons of any sort. The word broke their hearts. "Please."
