The Old Belltower Eddie is a small, quiet fae, who keeps mostly to himself. He spends much of his time in the Scarwind Keep's belltower, which he has converted into a clocktower. The bells remain - there are three which ring in concert according to the mechanisms created by Eddie. Their voices can be heard for miles, and when they ring, so too do the blood-chimes in the keep below, and in this way does Eddie please the Queen and keep her favor. For Love Maintaining the Queen's favor is especially important for Eddie, as he occupies the precarious position of being the King's mate. Although this is known only to a few. Of course, the King and Queen of the clan are brother and sister, and not a mated pair, an odd detail which occasionally creates some confusion for outsiders and resulting in various inappropriate rumors. Still, Eddie is in many ways a direct threat to Minstri's power. He is not one of her fanatics and even makes subtle movements to oppose what he finds objectionable. His greatest influence is that he possesses the King's ear. This is what Minstri likes the least. That Sovri should hear council which might not be in alignment with hers inspires dangerous jealousy. |

He does his best to be a positive influence on Sovri, as Eddie knows the true depth of his compassion and his capacity for good when he is given space from his sister... in that place and time when Sovri and Minstri were apart, and after a lifetime's chance to grieve and grow... But she has called him back, and so Eddie determined to follow. Eddie does not dislike Minstri. He does not hate her. Indeed, he loves her as he loves anyone, and has served to comfort her when she needed comforting. But he does pity her, and fear her, and fear for Sovri because of her. Thus, does Eddie keep mostly to himself. It's safer that way. The tower is his own stronghold, his own domain. He does venture out from time to time, he's not a recluse. He is close friends with Susan, and a close stepfather to Annabel. He is not, however, as close with Jejune or Four, Sovri's adoptive daughters. And he is always willing to see anyone who visits the tower. To offer advice or to tell stories and legends or just to be in safe company, and listen to the reassuring rhythm of the clocktower. |

Clockwork Eddie is a member of the Machine Faction, though he specializes in clockmaking. The tiny fae is adept at making the most beautiful and intricate timepieces. His expertise also lends well to other complex machinery, he most prefers to make things which are either of use to industry or are beautiful. He refuses to participate in any creation of weaponry and has on more than one occasion, destroyed weapons created by the Machine Faction if they made any use of his designs. After the second such incident, the other members were more careful in the way they went about making instruments of war, and do not make use of Eddie's resources without his approval of the project. The Faction's leader, Vyro, later stated of the matter "I would no sooner cross Eddie, than I would our Queen." |
