Biography
By @Piecrust - https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/adopt/2801431
Golden eyes watched pensively, eyeing her latest quarry. It wasn't quite a hunt, not the way the warriors fought against the beastclans, but it was as close as she got. And honestly, that was fine by her.
She'd had her time running around, making a name for herself and getting into trouble, inches from meeting the deities. But Lightweaver had seen something in Selena, she figured, and she'd found her way back to the Facility. Sure, she hadn't been running from a sentence like the others here, but she knew their tricks. Running away from your past was the same, no matter what was in it. And she knew all too well what desperate measures some would go to, in order to find their way to somewhere else.
This mirror was a tricky one to sneak up on. Damn four-eyes... Luckily, what the mirror lacked in flexibility, the spiral could balance with. She tucked herself among the branches of a nearby tree, and waited. The mirror was in no hurry today, and neither was she.
She'd heard stories about some of the fiercest hunters, waiting on cliffsides for days, holding out for that perfect chance. For all the pieces to align, for the wind to be right, the sun to be just so...and then they would launch, sniping off their prey in a single swipe. She envied those dragons their concentration. It was all she could do to wait as she did, for the right moment in a single day--or even a single hour! She had to fight to keep awake sometimes. No wonder she'd run off as a child. How was any right-thinking spiral supposed to concentrate for this long?
But she'd made her decision, and she'd been training. Working at being the best she could be. She had too many pieces working in her favor to let something silly like habit get in her way of being successful. The others at the Facility had noticed as well. She was as hard as stone with those she brought in; you wouldn't find an inch of leeway in her entire body. But for those she knew...those who had been at the Facility the longest...they knew better. They could see past the sheen in those sunlit eyes to the true Selena underneath. She couldn't help it. Selena wanted to help these dragons, and she knew that tough love was the only way some of them would learn. But she still had a soft spot in her heart for the ones she'd seen grow--both literally and figuratively.
There. A hesitation, just enough of an opening for her to jump into. She slid her way out of the tree and landed herself smack in front of the mirror, whose eyes widened as he backed up--but her tail flicked out and caught him before he could flee.
"Now now, stranger. I think I've got somewhere to show you."
