Biography

Storyteller - hearty, cheerful, compliant

While Bram may look intimidating, he is in fact anything but. The giant imperial loves to tell stories and entertain the other dragons. He's not much of a fighter and spends most of his time at the clan's base helping out with various things there. He gets along well with Hazard and has made it his task to welcome new dragons and travelers to the clan.

Bram has taken it upon himself to record the stories of the dragons who have been with the Scavengers, but left for one reason or the other. They can be found below.

Resident cool dude

Jagg acts aloof, though not unfriendly, and doesn't talk much. He'll nod or hum in response to other dragons who'll try some small talk on him but rarely contributes to the conversation himself. Oddly enough this has made him a favourite conversational partner to the dragons just looking to spill their happenings, grievances and personal problems to. Jagg is happy to act as a soundboard to them, or at least, he seems to. He's never said anything contrary.

Jagg occasionally hung out with Druid and assisted her in her schemes and pranks. The two formed an odd couple, as neither is the talkative sort. They'd chill somewhere near the campsite for hours without saying a word, but enjoying each other's company nonetheless.

One morning, Jagg was nowhere to be found. It took some time for the dragons to notice it, as he was always so quiet. While the clan searched the area and sent out multiple patrols they saw hide nor hair of him, and concluded that he must have left for some reason. While some were saddened, he'd never been close friends with any of them, and life as usual resumed quickly.
The only one who didn't forget was the small green bogsneak who'd known him better than any of the others. She hadn't been there to help with the search, had retreated to a hiding spot while her clanmates looked for her in the hope that she knew something. That she did, but it was of no business to them, just to her. At times, when she feels lonely, Druid takes out the handwritten note that Jagg had given to her the day before he disappeared, and reads it in silence.

Bracken is more or less her mother Zeron cranked up to eleven. She's a boisterous dragon who loves to pounce on others and hold mock fights with them. Some of her family members have grown slightly paranoid by her surprise attacks, Zeron is one of the few who can compete with her.

She used to hang out a lot with her cousin Lapwing, but he left for another clan like many members of her family. In the end, she felt the call for adventure too, and left the Icefield for the great wide open.

The half brother of Slate and Glitch. Like his sister, there was something slightly off about him, though it was less apparent. He just acted a little.. unhinged, at times.

Guardian started out a young mirror, but fell prey to the forces brought on by Morse and was transformed into a spiral. Druid was quite fond of him, but Krass was already too far gone to care. Guardian wanted to connect with his father but had never been successful. He was often seen in the company of his fae friend Isaac, the two were thick as thieves. He retained much of his mirror nature and was feral and feisty, not so much overly active like a naturally born spiral. At times he would forget that he didn't have the size and strength of a mirror anymore and take on foes far stronger than him. He took up archery under Venom's guidance to compensate and became quite a stealthy ambusher.

At a point, he and Isaac decided to brave the Stygian Labyrinth on their own. They knew of its dangers and had been forbidden from entering by every adult in the clan, but they had been preparing a plan for some time. Wishing to find his estranged father, Guardian was the most eager to go, but Isaac's curiosity also played part.
Both of them being very small dragons, they had little trouble sneaking out of the camp. Isaac had mapped out the route they would take and Guardian took care of erasing their tracks and making sure they stayed under cover. When they arrived at the Maze's entrance, a yawning black void in an icy mountainside, the pair attached a piece of string to the branch of a low shrub. By unravelling the coil as they walked they would be able to find their way back. Getting lost was a likely occurrence if the tales of the Labyrinth were to be believed. Armed with bow and arrow and a pair of electric torches the fae had put together, they set out, and weren't heard from until days later.

What had happened exactly down the tunnels even Isaac doesn't know. The Maze affects the mind, it warps the sense of time and space the longer you stay there. A rescue party comprised of Isaac's parents, the warrior leader Fuchsia and the ridgeback Dämmerung (who’s herself an escapee from the maze) came upon the string the youngsters had left. It lead them down some way, but at a certain point it ended abruptly. The raggy end revealed that the string must have snapped, though nothing hinted at how.
It was by chance that they heard the echoing cries of Isaac. Taking care to remember which turns they had taken, the fae's parents found him crouched in a quivering heap. He was in total shock and their first concern was to get him back out, so they didn't question him immediately. When he'd come to his senses, it turned out that he didn't know much either. At some point the torches had gone out and Guardian and he hadn't been able to find their way because the string had been broken. They'd roamed the tunnels for what had seemed like weeks, feeding on strange molds and bugs that lived in the caves. Every tunnel they entered had looked similar. It was as if the halls were shifting and twisting whenever they weren't looking, making them walk in endless circles.
Isaac remembered how happy they were when they finally hit upon a different area. This place had straight walls of smooth stone, and smelled of soil and dust. It had looked a lot more solid and reliable than the natural caves, so they had entered and slept in a shallow alcove.
When they awoke, they both felt strange. They couldn’t say why, but something was off. Guardian was the first to notice the two glowing dots in the distance. Trying to prevent to send his friend into a panic, despite the fear he felt himself, he nudged Isaac awake and told him they ought to leave. The dots, little as they were, slowly grew larger as the creature they belonged to advanced. When Isaac noticed them he froze in fear, but the spiral gave him a shove with which he tumbled out of the alcove into the corridor. Both dragons ran like hell, never glancing backward as they plunged through tunnels of grimy darkness. They ran as they heard the pounding claws of their pursuer, the ragged breath, sounding closer with every heartbeat. All of a sudden, the fae stumbled and slid across a floor of ice. When he looked up he saw the now familiar icy caves that they'd come in from. Still in a state of utmost panic he quickly glanced behind him, and the visage that greeted him gave him a shock much greater than any monsterous creature would have.

There was nothing there.

The foreboding corridors had vanished, only more of the same cave tunnels lay behind him. Whatever had chased him was nowhere to be seen, and so was Guardian.

Hexe is a scavenger from the Light flight. Their appearance startles other coatl, as their dull colours are considered signs of sickness by their species. However, they've embraced their status as an outcast and soar the skies of Sornieth and roost on desolate cliffs, relishing in the solitude. They currently occupy the top spot in the crumbling tower where the dragons of the Snowsquall Outpost nest and have adopted a wayward skydancer (Weerlicht) as their child.

Weerlicht was taken under the wing of Hexe as a hatchling. She's a peculiar dragon who was found wandering parentless on the arctic coast. Despite having no affiliation with the Lightning Flight, she can feel charges building and storms approaching before even Ashen notices the change in weather.

An ethereal dragon who loves the nighttime.

Hersinde is an old friend of Isengrim’s. She knows him from his stay in a Lightning clan, where the two took a shine to each other. But when a large dispute between the forces of Light and Earth shook the area the skydancer disappeared, leaving her behind.
Hersinde had her suspicions about the ‘curse’ he’d told her of, even if Isengrim himself didn’t. The arrival of conflict only proved her theory: the skydancer subconsciously knew where disaster would happen. Being somewhat of a seer herself (an occupation that set her apart from her fellow Lightning dragons, who value technology over the occult), she searched for him with her mind. It took her many months to pinpoint his location, and many months more until she was prepared to take the trip. It was important that she got this information to him so that they could both use it to help prevent future disasters.. and before his current place of residence would be struck.

On her arrival, she realized she'd been too late. Her friend had disappeared amidst a strange catastrophe and his clan was in disarray. Hersinde let the then clan leader, a coatl named Trace, know about her quest, and promised her that she would head to the Icewarden to ask for aid. In turn, she now serves him as an oracle.

Ultra - Water skydancer - mage, seer

"There is something, there. I feel its magic stirring."

Ultra is a proud sorceress who's tapped into the prophetic powers of the abyss and can, as a result, slightly sense other dragons by their magic.
She traveled to the Stygian Maze in search of the source of the incredible burst of magic energy she'd felt when she'd just arrived at the Icefield. Accompanied by her recently acquired sidekick Wishe she succeeded in making the trek, but whatever had caused the energy had faded by the time they arrived. Still, she could sense something powerful lying at the heart of the maze and vowed to discover what caused it.
Ultra is currently staying with the disheveled remnants of the once up and coming clan of the Scavengers. Lead by the coatl Trace, the dragons have been eager, if a little wary, to learn from her magical knowledge and abilities. She gets along best with Trace herself and the fae mage Elvira and wants to assist them in finding ways to rescue the dragons who are trapped within the Maze. However, she's equally allured the strange unknown entity she senses within and secretly hopes to meet it.

Backstory

When she was young Ultra believed she hadn't been gifted with the abilities her water flight brethren had. She could move through the oceans easily but her magical prowess was lackluster when compared to other dragons her age. While her friends and family didn't really care, Ultra couldn't help but see this as a weakness and blamed it on her not practicing hard enough. She gave herself fully to her studies and meditation, isolating herself from her kind and gradually losing touch with the people she cared about. So big grew her obsession that she would go days without food, believing pause or rest to take away from the time she needed to improve.
Her family grew steadily more worried despite Ultra brushing off their concerns with the remark that she would soon be caught up on her studies and be able to spend time with them. But 'soon' never seemed to come and the young skydancer wasted away more and more.
Finally, while she was mediating as close as she could get to the mighty Spiral Keep, only barely withstanding the water pressure at the edge of the Leviathan Trench with the little magic she possessed, Ultra collapsed under the strain she'd put her body and mind under and fainted. This close to the trench she sunk into the deep and was tossed about like a leave on a breeze by the twisting currents.
What happened afterward she doesn't know for certain, but the blue skydancer clearly recalls a vision of a massive, powerful creature appearing to her and carrying her upward. When she regained consciousness she found herself once more above the trench but this time at a safe distance removed from the edge. Valuing logic over wild fancies she later told her family it must have been a dragon from one of the lairs that dot the upper cliffsides of the Leviathan Trench who carried her to safety. But secretly, both because her rational part considers it shameless wish fulfillment and because none of the other dragons would ever accept it, Ultra believes that the Tidelord himself had come to her aid.

After this experience the young skydancer returned to her family, where she realised how badly she had neglected her health. With the support of the other dragons she regained some of her strength and found her way back into the daily routine of life in her clan. In between hunting for fish, gathering materials for maintaining dens and nest sites and other tasks she took on, she noticed that she knew where other creatures were before her senses picked up on them. After testing to see if this was truly a special ability and not something she believed she had because she wanted to, she figured that her magical talent must have finally awoken. She would close herself off to meditate, but never for too long and always within the vicinity of her home, and learned that what she sensed was the innate magic of the beings around her. By concentrating she could know where they were within a certain radius, how powerful their magic was and in some cases deduce their motives from their movements and flares of power.
Ascribing her newfound ability to her miraculous save, Ultra considered it to be a blessing from the Tidelord and vowed to devote its use to him. Feeling the urge to make good on her promise she decided to head out into the wide world, searching for places where the Water Flight might benefit from her. She said her goodbyes to her parents and siblings, with the promise that she'd take care of herself, and headed for the large ocean that lay beyond the lands bordering her home sea.

Many months and many adventures later, Ultra found herself in the waters nearing the Southern Icefields. She'd gotten acclimated to the cold waves that lapped on these snowy shores, but not so much that she could bear them without aid. Fortunately a Light Flight mage she'd helped out during her travels had provided her with a set of enchanted candles that would serve as her source of light and warmth in the dark seas. It was due to these items that Ultra had felt confident enough to make for the ice flows.
Upon arriving at the shores this new world, while beautiful, looked barren and desolate to her. She'd scour the coast for signs of dragons, but be greeted by no one but the seabirds. When contemplating on heading back north one night, the skydancer suddenly felt a surge of magic greater than she ever had before. So strong was this power that she could swear a spell was being casted right next to her, even though the source would have to be miles away judging by her still not sensing any dragons.
Her curiosity perked, she swam in the surge's direction as far as the water would allow her. When she couldn't swim further she took to the land and managed to walk for a day before realising she'd gone out of her league. Though she would have been loathe to head back, Ultra wasn't the same dragon who'd pushed herself to fainting anymore, and if it hadn't been for her magic-sense picking up a dim source nearby, she would have turned around.
The dim source in question belonged to a small white and blue spiral. The little dragon had dug out a den in the deep snow and laid there curled around a small bag of belongings. Gently, so as not to startle it from its sleep, the skydancer sat down nearby and unpacked some of her rations.

A daughter of Elvira and Bram who left to serve the Icewarden as an unassuming little fae. Her siblings are still in his service.
Dämmerung returned a changed dragon. The tiny creature that had set out was no more, a towering behemoth had taken its place. Her parents were naturally taken aback, but when the ridgeback proved to be their daughter by recalling the memories they shared, they accepted her without hesitation.

She appears cold and distanced and doesn’t exactly have a friendly demeanor. She's devoted and helpful though. She's struck up an odd friendship with Isaac and Guardian and keeps them out of trouble.
Isaac wrote:
Will be restored

The son of Trace and Dread, a subdued but keen young dragon. Takes after his father in attitude and has inherited his mother's brains. Used to be a guardian but transformed into a fae through the eldritch forces brought on by Morse. His parents love him all the same.

He's learned a fair bit about building machines from his mother and from Pale. Isaac enjoys tinkering and has become quite adept. Because of his small size and claws, he can build far more delicate objects than even Tech's spiral assistant Luminax could. But although the things he builds usually work, he lacks the lightning magic to power them and has to ask Trace for assistance.

Ezzik - Light spiral - trader

A shady sales-spiral who one should be careful in dealing with.

Ezzik is a regular of the outpost who goes about his business freely despite his unsavory reputation. He trades in the usual treasure, trinkets and supplies, but his specialty is trading in favours. Ofttimes he'll have just the item a dragon desires and said dragon will almost always cave, even if they're aware of Ezzik's business practices. If a customer decides to be smart about it and simply refuse to do what they promised, the spiral will find ways to make them. Usually by calling up on the other favors he's owed.
