Biography
I remember the day we found her vividly. Meringue and I were on one of our journeys, exploring the vast and wondrous world beyond our clan's territory. The skies were clear, and the sun painted the landscape with its golden hues. We had just landed near a dense thicket of bushes, the rustling leaves and distant chirping of insects serenading us.
As we ventured deeper into the undergrowth, we noticed a young dragon hatchling, no more than a few days old. She was alone, her bewildered eyes darting around as if trying to find her way back home. I exchanged a quick glance with Meringue, a silent understanding passing between us. We couldn't leave her here, vulnerable and lost.
"Well, come on then, little one. We won't hurt you," I called out to her. "I'm Amaretti. And my companion here is Meringue."
The hatchling remained hidden in the bushes, hesitant but curious. Meringue and I exchanged warm smiles. After a moment of deliberation, she crept out of her hiding spot, her eyes filled with uncertainty.
"Do you not have a name?" Meringue inquired gently.
The hatchling shook her head, her crestfallen expression telling us that her parents hadn't chosen a name for her yet.
"I think Dulce is a fitting name," I suggested, casting a glance at Meringue. "Don't you agree?"
Meringue nodded in agreement, and the hatchling, with a tentative but eager smile, repeated the word, "Dulce."
With Dulce in tow, we decided to lead her to a safer place, away from the wilderness she had gotten lost in. She seemed unsure whether we were taking her home or somewhere unknown, but she trusted us enough to follow. It was a delicate task, to comfort and guide a young soul who had strayed far from the security of her nest.
As we approached the sanctuary of an allied dragon clan, Dulce's eyes widened with a mix of curiosity and trepidation. There were unfamiliar dragons all around, observing her with keen interest. I could sense her anxiety, but Meringue and I reassured her that she was safe.
"You'll be safe here," Meringue assured her. "Much safer here with them than with us on our travels."
One particular dragon, with eyes that seemed to crackle like miniature lightning storms, stepped forward. Her gaze softened as she crouched down to Dulce's level. "I'm Stormweaver. We'll take good care of you. Welcome home."
And in that moment, as the warmth of our friends' clan enveloped Dulce, I knew we had made the right choice. She had found her place, and the adventures of her young life were just beginning.
