Zenith was born the only female out of her nest and was the middle hatchling on top of that. It was always her brothers who go the attention, either the older one was showing off a new skill he'd learned or her younger one tripping over his own wings. She was only recognized for the color of her scales... and it burned her deep inside.
She wanted to prove to them she was powerful. That she could be just as strong with magic and physical strength as the others. Her father occasionally would help her or give nods of approval where they were due but Zenith knew he was disappointed that the one child he'd had so far to resemble him was a female. Not a strong intimidating male. It was a sick joke that fate did that to her.
So, Zenith lashed out at her brothers and flew off into the diseased land around her. She would show every dragon they should fear her. They would know what pain felt like and bow down before her in fear. Then, perhaps, her brothers and father would see her worth.
