Biography
EDEN the ORACLE awake at night |
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
When Eden’s natural state of fatigue crests to an unbearable exhaustion, they sleep—often for weeks or even months on end. When the urge strikes them, Eden collects trinkets, fact-checks history books, or even visits their innumerable offspring. On the off-chance that they hunger, Eden hunts. But eternity is an ocean. Like an unwanted, unwelcome promise, it unfurls endlessly in all directions, drowning Eden’s dwindling waking hours in its ever-rising tides. Eventually, every passing fancy is rendered forfeit to the ebb and flow of time, as is Eden’s attention and ardor to pursue them. Their haphazard galleries of weathered tomes, bygone currencies, and Second Age newspapers gather dust as they slumber, dreamless. Over the course of their existence, Eden has found that the years only seem to accelerate as they wash over them; what was once a meandering flow is now a dizzying torrent. They find it more and more burdensome to try and keep pace. |

Notes: Every now and then, one of Eden’s children will swing by to tidy up as they “rest”. They’ll often bring food in case Eden suddenly wakes. It might take a few moments to match face with memory, but Eden can recall all of their offspring’s names. Their few friends and acquaintances have taken to treating their vast library as a “take-a-book, leave-a-book”. Eden can always tell if something’s changed when they wake up, but they don’t mind. Do they fully understand death? Probably not. Do they crave it anyway? Absolutely. “WHO DARES DISTURB MY SLUMBER?” “Wasn’t funny the first time and wasn’t funny this time, Ede.” —gardenvoir // 176432 |
