"Are you ready for your first lesson in flying?" At their exclamations of excitement, she held out her hand. "Good. Pearls, please." Betu hid her disgust as she tucked the horrendously misshaped orbs away to destroy later. "Jump on three, just like we planned. Ready?"

With utmost trust in her, the hatchlings lined up, crouched, and waited for the next gust.

It never came.
