Biography
HISTORY
Cortando was hatched without a name to two extremely skilled engineers who were head of their clan's local lightning farm. Just because his parents were privileged, however, didn't mean that he got any of their advantages. He started off as every other hatchling in the clan, unnamed until he completed his basic education and became full grown. When he came of age he was given the name Intern #37975791. Only once he got a full time job working for the Stormcatcher could he choose a name for himself.
Intern #37975791 was not assigned to a specific dragon. Instead, he was set on coffee duty. Intern #37975791 ran coffee to and from the engineers as they worked. When they were up all night working on a strange experiment for Stormcatcher, Intern #37975791 was there. When the engineers were on the top of the lightning coils, dodging lightning and raging winds as they worked on repairs, Intern #37975791 was there. When lightning fought its raging dominance battles and the defense systems worked over time to defend the lightning farm, Intern #37975791 was there. After a while, he did gain respect with some of the engineers. They all agreed his coffee was by far the best. Soon, he was assigned to the most elite group of engineers in the clan, which included his parents. Intern #37975791 had never been prouder.
But Intern #37975791 remained Intern #37975791. Despite all his hard work, despite the hours he worked to bring coffee to the engineers and the hundreds of different drink combinations he memorized, Intern #37975791 was never promoted. "No one does coffee like you do." they said "Why should we replace you? Everyone has their own job, and you are where you work best."
So one day, Intern #37975791 left. As he traveled across Sornieth, Intern #37975791 shared his coffee making abilities with others. His lightning heritage proved useful, as he quickly figured out how to make the best profit while still providing a good drink to his customers. Intern #37975791 shed his name and took the name Cortado instead, after one of his favorite types of coffee. He traveled to the Viridian Labyrinth, retrieved enough coffee beans to start his own garden, then started looking for a place to settle.
Eventually, he came to the Sandstone Hold. He started his new coffee shop there, and quickly became an influential and important dragon in the merchant's guild. Cortado runs everything in his shop, and still finds time to take trips to the Viridian Labyrinth to discover new types of coffee beans. His affable nature makes him a popular salesman, and he's always ready to sit down and chat about one's problems. As long as they make a purchase beforehand, of course.
Cortado owns the Sepia Rose, a large shop outside the city walls frequented by almost every dragon.
