Blood Affinity

Aeneas was born with an affinity for Blood Magic. Those unfamiliar with this magical variant, usually think of dark and demonic rituals where the sacrifice of innocent blood is involved. They think of death, suffering and destruction. But nothing could be farther from the truth. Aeneas is neither cruel nor does he lust for blood. On the contrary, he is very empathic and sensitive to his environment and all the creatures around him, dragon and beast alike. He would never harm or kill to achieve his goals. Aeneas uses his own blood to strengthen the magical power of his spells, or if he performs a spell for another dragon, their blood. Dragon blood is a powerful magical substance, and usually dragons think twice before approaching Aeneas if they have to sacrifice something of their own to enlist his service.

In his former Clan, Aeneas was often referred to as the “light twin”, whereas his brother was mocked as the “dark twin”. Unlike Aeneas, his brother Accolon is a Necromancer, born with an affinity for Bone Magic. His hide and scales are dull, allowing him to blend in with the darkness. There is a hard and unforgiving streak in Accolon’s character, a trait that Aeneas doesn’t share and sometimes fears. The constant mocking and resentment that followed his brother made Aeneas sad and although Accolon endured every slight without batting an eyelid, Aeneas knew that his brother was suffering. He was afraid what his brother might do when he eventually had enough of all the mocking and disdain. Thus, Aeneas persuaded his brother to leave their homeland with their distant cousin. It was the best decision he ever made. Over time, the trio became very close, it was like they had finally found a long-lost brother. Although there will always be a dark stain on his brother’s soul, the darkness hasn’t consumed him and hopefully never will.

Aeneas is a powerful and accomplished sorcerer. He offers his services to every dragon who is willing to pay the price his magic takes. Unlike Apollo, he doesn’t teach other dragons. Blood magic is difficile, and can be misused to cause great pain and suffering. Aeneas contributes to the welfare of the Forgotten Sanctuary by patrolling the borders. He is usually accompanied by his brother Accolon and sometimes one of the Clan’s Night Warriors.

Personality //
Aeneas is empathic and sincere, an outgoing and charming dragon who is well-liked by most of his clanmates. He cares deeply for his brother Accolon, who is more reserved and not an easy dragon to like. Aeneas is helpful and caring, he takes his duty to patrol the Clan’s borders very seriously. Especially since the otherworldly activities increased after the strange surging of the elements, he has taken on more and more responsibility. And to his great surprise, he enjoys being in charge.

Friends //
Aeneas is closest to his twin brother, Accolon. But he is also very close to his “cousin turned brother” Apollo. They all share their ancestor’s talent for magic but also their curse.
In the Sanctuary, Aeneas has become friends with some of the Clan’s Night Warriors, most notably their commander Lugaidh.

Blood Affinity //
"Blood magic draws on the strength of the spirit, and is geared toward spells and enchantments that require ritual and sacrifice. Blood spells, energy work, and ritual sacrifices are all forms of Blood magic. Dragons with an Affinity for Blood magic are typically empathetic and sincere, and have a knack for touching the hearts of others. Blood magic is strengthened by sincerity; the more closely a spell aligns with the caster’s inner desires, the more powerful the spell will become. The use of a dragon’s blood will strengthen the effect of a Blood-aligned spell performed on that individual."
