The rhythmic dripping of water lulled Shadowmoon into a light sleep. The ground was surprisingly soft and cool. The earthy damp air filled her nostrils has she rested. It had been a busy day exploring the marshes found deep in the catacombs of Light’s Veil Keep. It was so easy to lose track of time down here if it was for her connection to the nearby tides she may forget all together.

Shadowmoon was suddenly woken from her troublesome dreams by an impact to her head. Lifting her head, she saw the ancient form of Tethis. The shiny guardian was sitting there holding a gnarled staff. Shadowmoon sat up rubbing her head. “Ouch that stung,” she grumbled. Tethis chuckled. “The Dark Pool is ready, but we must go now. Shadowmoon jumped up and followed her. They wandered deeper into the marsh until they found it.

The Dark Pool, normally inky black as it absorbed the surrounding light, now glowed as if lit internally. Shadowmoon’s whole being shook in excitement. This was what she had been waiting for years. She had finally found her charge now she needed to obtain a bit of it to make sure no matter where she went she could preserve it.


The crystal vial broke the still surface and filled with the inky water. Shadowmoon placed the stopper in quickly as their time was slipping away. Once the vial was sealed, she and Tethis performed a simple ritual. This ensured the vial was completely sealed and unbreakable. Tethis slipped the vial on a sliver chain and slipped it around Shadowmoon’s neck. Shadowmoon bowed to her companion and head out of the marsh. She felt the need to share her with her mate and the rest of the clan.
