HYACINTH DIVISION COMMANDER

The unexpectedly talented Hyacinth division commander. From the day he stepped foot into Zhengyu, it was like the world had already been moved for him. His eyes were determined, focused; and the effect was further built upon through a slow and comfortable stride. To others, it was like Lance was the sort who always knew where he was going and why, as if he had it all figured out.

After joining the military, he rose quickly through its ranks. Armed with an unusual and seemingly effortless style of fighting, he was given a strong advantage over his peers from the start. However his true strength and talents lies within a show of numbers alongside his ability to utilize them to great efficacy.

Lance has a way of earning many friends, if not admirers; putting them all to equally good use in the field. No one is ever overlooked nor to be underestimated under his watch, and choosing to do so is akin to a death wish. As long as there was someone by his side, even just one, Lance would transform from a daunting opponent to that of a formidable force.

His easy going nature tends to purchase its way into the hearts of those around him. He applies a genuine care, as well as interest in every individual that chooses to stand by his side; taking in their trust and rewarding their faith with a taste of flawless victory through the merits of their strengths combined.

The history prior to his arrival is something shrouded in mystery, lightly touched upon and brushed off as if meaningless and mundane. He seems to believe it, but there's always the question of how he has not managed to find himself in the arms of another or vice versa despite the number of available candidates to choose from coupled with his overall agreeable nature.

Uniformed Lance

» Quick on his feet, Lance fights with a dance-like grace. Unlike other division commanders who are equipped for large scale battles, he is more capable in defeating or holding his own (and that of his division) against a handful of exceptional individuals. In the event he cannot defeat them, he will have most certainly bought some much needed time while simultaneously maintaining very few losses.

» Due to his heritage, he is unable to deflect projectiles with his wings or use them as a means of protection. To combat this, he has taken up carrying (and fighting) with a finely crafted metal umbrella. It serves as both a shield as well as a conveniently dangerous bit of blunt weaponry.

» He appears comfortable in his own skin, getting along well with others despite his mixed bloodline. He extends this comfort towards the rest of his knights, helping several of them better integrate into Autumnal society and minimizing any reservations they may have over their place within it.

» Despite his rank, he settles seamlessly into the group as being one of them rather than one above. He can often be seen eating with his subordinates or being invited out around town on the rare occasion that he is not busy or being pulled in all directions to pursue the same sentiment by different parties.

» Though he serves Zhengyu, his true loyalties lie with its crown prince, Katar, first and foremost. It is something that he shows no indication of, nor is there a trace of evidence left behind to link the two save for what seems like a negligible fondness for the color blue.

» In the past, Lance and his unknown lover had escaped a narrow death. Persecuted and hunted, Katar had found them both grievously injured during his travels. Though he was able to lend them shelter for a time, the result was that he could not save them both. Reaching out to the heartbroken Lance, Katar showed him the ways of an Autumnal funeral rite--and by extent, teaching him of the existence of funerary wine, offering Lance a means of being by his partner's side once again.

» Lance guarded the red maiden tree with body and soul, careful for it not to be found and ensured that it remained thriving. During that year, Katar would do what he could to look after him and teach him how to fend for himself. Much of Lance's fighting style today is that learned from the prince.

» He was later given a place near Zhengyu, cut free to pursue his own designs. Without a light to guide his lost soul, he naturally gravitates back to the prince after learning of who he is. He then made his way to the capital, joining its military to both repay a debt and to warm his empty existence by a fire that is not his own.

» Currently, he also serves as one of the prince's personal agents; taking command over others in seeing that every task is fulfilled. The two communicate through a set of special songsteel charms. The woodwind instruments that they both carry are capable of producing hidden silent notes, of which resonate with the specially designed metal trinkets.

» His true skillset is that seen below. He conceals his ability to mark others with the scarlet brand, masquerading its existence as that of the eboncrow heritage by marking twice in quick succession and in high doses. He mimics the fatal effect before the brand can reveal itself (if he chooses to use it at all). Likewise, his way with identifying feathers or fighting within the fray is something learned and hard won rather than being something which came to him instinctively.
