Biography
On the last day of the year, two imperials lovingly incubated their clutch. Today was the day their hatchlings would come into the world, just in time to watch the dawn of a new year. The nest swayed gently in the breeze, as did the flora surrounding them. The seed-like eggs began to rock gently, and both parents leaned in, parental instincts taking control. They watched as one, then two baby imperials fought to escape their eggs. Once they were free, the female stumbled about, exploring as hatchlings always do. The male, however, turned to stare wistfully at his egg, as if he already regretted coming out.
____ is a dragon always dwelling the past. Since his birth, he has held the good and bad of his history forefront in his mind. This has resulted in his excellent memory. He remembers the fine details of his past, however long ago it was, along with the big events. He always has the perfect memory to share, whether it is happy and uplifting for a pep talk, entertaining to enthrall hatchlings, or sad to help comfort others. He loves listening to others tell their history, and often comments on how much each dragon has to give, even if their past seems boring or trivial. This extensive knowledge of history on both a scholarly and personal level has led to him gleaning many helpful tidbits from the failures of others. He freely shares these tips in an attempt to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past. He is full of quotes, and seems to have one for every occasion.
However, this obsession, like all others, comes with its negatives. ___ is unhealthily full of regrets, constantly fretting over what he should or shouldn't have done. This sometimes keeps him from doing anything, which only adds one more thing to his extensive list of things he wishes he could change. In this obsession for what once was, he misses out completely on the joy that can be found in the present. The future holds no wonder or excitement for him, either. He refuses to turn his gaze to what is coming, and as such is bad at preparing for anything. This has led to many less-than-ideal scenarios for him.
It was noon, and most of the clan lounged around, using the cover of the softly glowing trees to hide from the sun's blasting heat. Today was a rather slow day, with not much going on. An ideal day to catch up on a good book, talk to friends, or simply relax. Well, for most of the clan. A lone red imperial sat at a table in a large, rather empty room. He was muttering to himself, occasionally writing on a page of a book or diary. His expression was one of worry and regret. "No, that's not right..." He erased something and wrote something else in its place. After a few minutes, he sat up straighter and glanced out a nearby window, regret increasing. He stood for a second before sitting back down with an audible thump. "If you go out, you'll just wish you had stayed in." He said, again to himself.
