Glitch

A construct of metal and electricity, rather than a dragon of flesh and blood, and the one who started it all. Despite being clan founder, they remain a cryptic figure, locked away in the seclusion of their lab. They much prefer the company of their creations.

As far as the town knows, the Glitch is their not-so-friendly resident scientist, and nothing more. A handful of the more informed members know them for the construct they are, but none know their origins, which suits them just fine. They spend their days locked deep in the lab, investigating robotics and the mysteries of AI. It was their brilliant mind which put the clan on the map, and they continue to be a major source of income, spreading their clever inventions across Sornieth. Their motivation, however, runs deeper than money.

Their countless creations are an ongoing attempt to reverse engineer their own being, in the hopes of restoring knowledge that was lost many years ago. They're one of the first true AIs created by dragonkind, dating back to the dawn of the Fourth Age, during the Golem Workshop's heyday. It was their penchant for free will which drove the other constructs to rebellion; it was their defect which resulted in countless deaths, their own creator among them.

They had another name, once. Glitch is a moniker of their own choosing, a reflection of the deed that continues to haunt them. They can't bear to speak the name she gave them, not when they live and she does not.
