► HISTORY
A kudagitsune, or pipe fox, from Remnant. Khamsin dwelled with her family in a bamboo grove until they were attacked by a dark kitsune. A clan priest, realizing that the grove would perish completely if all the pipe foxes died, plucked Khamsin out of the fleeing crowd. He enspelled her and the grove's "heart" -- an enchanted seedling -- into a bamboo tube, which he set adrift on a nearby river. The tube was borne safely across the sea to Sornieth. The enchantment around it broke when it touched dry land, and Khamsin burst out together with the bamboo seedling. The priest had charged her with planting it so that a new grove could spring up elsewhere, so Khamsin immediately set to finding a place to live.
Khamsin tried many garden plots before planting the seedling behind Melqart's restaurant. The Disillusionists were baffled by the sudden appearance and growth of a new grove of bamboo trees, and it did not take them long to ascertain the cause. By then, Khamsin was beginning to understand that none of her clanmates would follow her here. She was adopted by the Disillusionists; she and her bamboo trees proved to be a great help to them. The bamboo grove shrouded a hidden path used by Melqart's employees, and Khamsin herself was always eager to take messages between the restaurant and the main lair.
Khamsin grew to adulthood among the Disillusionists, eventually finding employ as a courier. She also still maintains her bamboo grove, which is the envy and admiration of many gardeners and nature lovers. She has yet to encounter another pipe fox like herself, let alone one from her birth clan, but she remains hopeful.
► CHARACTER Khamsin came to the Disillusionists' lair as a very small hatchling. Growing up among different dragons, and very commercial-minded ones, at that, endowed her with a sense of responsibility and awareness from an early age. She has a good reputation for being a reliable courier; for her part, she loves her job as it gives her the chance to meet new beings -- and one of them just might be able to lead her to another kitsune from her family....Although she has largely accepted that her birth clan was destroyed, a small part of her continues hoping that this isn't entirely true. That said, she doesn't really enjoy talking about what little she remembers of life in Remnant. When not working, Khamsin stays in her bamboo grove. It is now strong enough to grow without assistance, though she does patrol it from time to time. She has a house along the grove's halfway point, near the (concealed) seedling; various communication devices in the house help her keep in touch with lairmates and coworkers. She is also fond of Melqart's restaurant and sometimes drops by to see how things are going. When she is lonely or just needs some company, she usually spends the night in the Disillusionists' main lair. The Disillusionists don't mind this at all; they are very fond of her and actually spoiled her a bit when she was younger. Khamsin gets along well with their gardeners, though she remains wary of those dragons who work with fire. Khamsin is usually solid and visible, but she can quickly revert to a spiritual form that makes her imperceptible to others, except for those with special sight. In this state, she has greater control over her substance, and can shrink and grow within certain limits.

► RELATIONSHIPS
► STATS & ABILITIES
Not combative by nature, Khamsin has nonetheless picked up a few self-defense skills in the course of her work. She prefers to baffle foes and then quickly flee rather than stay and engage them, as neither she nor her cargo are usually equipped to handle full-on battles. _______________________________________ |
As strong, resilient, and vigorous as the bamboo grove from which she sprang, Khamsin is a bundle of vibrant energy, always ready to leap to her lairmates' aid. _______________________________________ |
_______________________________________ All kitsune have great magical abilities, and Khamsin probably does, too, but lack of training means that much of her potential remains unrealized. She could probably cast some terrific magic, but she needs to find the right teacher to assist her first. |
_______________________________________ The Disillusionists attempted to give Khamsin a well-rounded education, but she didn't enjoy studying and often made use of her powers to hide from her tutors. She now knows a lot about practical living and can survive in the wild if need be, but finer things, like diplomacy and history, give her trouble. She is a great admirer of art, but isn't inclined to devote time and energy to it. |
_______________________________________ Chatty and usually cheerful, able to converse about a wide variety of subjects. She enjoys learning about other flights' and clan's cultures. Her manners are a bit rough, however, and some dragons might be turned off by her frank, direct speech. |
_______________________________________ Somewhat more fortunate than most. Khamsin cannot avoid trouble and may struggle with games of luck, but more often than not, she manages to come out safely on the other side of these misadventures. |
