Biography
ELIZA
MAGE
Eliza could barely contain her excitement. Her plans had been laid out and her soon-to-be victim was quickly approaching. She snickered under her breath. This was bound to be good.
“Eliza? Are you here?” The pale green Imperial with the orange spines looked almost frantic. “Where are you, Eliza?” Maybe she shouldn’t have told Kunryong that it was vitally important. But it didn’t matter in the end. He was here now and the plan was officially underway.
As soon as Kunryong stepped into the designated spot, Eliza stretched her fingers out on the ground and let some magic flow through them. Kunryong yelped as the ground beneath him folded up and sprang into the air. “Eliza!” He growled. “I can’t believe you!”
Laughing heartily, Eliza emerged from the reeds. “How’s it hanging, Kunryong?” she chuckled.
“Yeah, that’s really funny,” Kunryong grumbled. He kicked at the netting holding him aloft. “How about letting me down now?”
“Alright, spoilsport,” Eliza replied, still grinning. She balanced herself on her hind legs and pulled the net and her friend back down to earth. With a single tug, she released Kunryong, snickering all the while.
Kunryong stretched and glared at Eliza. “The things you’ll do for a laugh,” he sighed, shaking his head. “I could’ve been hurt, you know.”
“No you wouldn’t have,” Eliza insisted. “Look.” She grabbed some of the netting and held it out to Kunryong. “It’s made of Azure Yuccarope, see? That’s one of the strongest kinds of rope there is, so you wouldn’t have fallen. I was being very safe about it.”
“I guess you’re right,” Kunryong mumbled, grabbing the section of netting to examine it himself.
“Besides, I know we have a Coliseum fight scheduled for later, so I wouldn’t have risked an injury,” Eliza continued with a fake pout. “You’re a valuable part of our team.”
Sighing, Kunryong shook his head again and smiled. “Someday, you’re going to run into someone that won’t fall for your sweet talk,” he noted. With a swift motion, he dragged the net over Eliza’s head. “I’ll see you at the Coliseum later,” he chuckled. “Don’t be late again.” He turned and headed back down the path toward the clan lair.
“You know me too well, Kunryong,” Eliza called after him. “Same thing next week?”
“Forget it, Eliza,” Kunryong shouted over his shoulder. “I’m not falling for it again.”
“That’s what you said last time,” Eliza snickered to herself. She turned and gathered the net in her claws. Might as well return this to its place among the hunting equipment before it was missed.
