Galveston is a glamour designer by trade (though he calls himself a "mad engineer"); in other words, he designs and manufactures illusory body mods for the fashionable dragon. Want your limbs to look like they're made of glass? Sure! Shimmering prismatic gembond that can be toggled on and off? Done! An invisibility charm? Well... okay, he can do that, and probably better than any other freelancer in the market, but it's kind of boring, isn't it? You sure you don't want some ethereal floating jewelry instead?

Since he's his own advertising department, Galveston is very friendly by necessity and almost impossible to offend. He chats with dragons he's just met like they're old friends. Unfortunately this also means he feels perfectly comfortable complaining to them, so anyone who's had a full conversation with him knows he has entire skeletons to pick with the modern glamour industry's overemphasis on the sense of sight. A good illusion, he's argued to many a politely nodding audience, shouldn't break suspension of disbelief the moment someone sticks a hand through it. He experiments extensively with illusory perfumes and textures in his own work, and while some may disagree with his priorities, he's gathered enough of a following to support his interest in ostentatious fashion.

He doesn't live at the station, but he drops by unannounced so often that Merrill's set a room aside for him anyway. When asked why he treks so far south just to hang out in a tiny freezing research station, his answers range from dubious ("their collection of sea monsters is very inspiring") to unlikely ("what are you talking about? Ice clans are my best customers!") to blatant lies ("I just enjoy the peace and quiet"). Whatever his real reasons, Merrill certainly appreciates his magical assistance whenever the monthly inspection rolls around.
  • His fins are hard-light constructs with realistic touch feedback; he considers them some of his best work.
  • The first time he met Adair he complimented him on his excellent quartz glamour. Adair didn't mind, but Galv's still mortified at his mistake to this day and avoids talking to him whenever possible.
