Neptune

Uh-oh, looks like this defiant daughter wandered a little too far from her home lair (Volrin, #261879), and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her to her home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. This is not necessary, but she would be very grateful!

Neptune has left home in search of her runaway sister, Oakley. If Oakley happens to be staying in your clan, please write something about the two of them reuniting!

History:

Neptune has never forgiven her parents for driving her sister, Oakley, away from their clan. The aqua-green Bogsneak had always done her best to comfort her sister, and strongly encouraged her to pursue her passion; that passion was brawling. And while Neptune couldn't fully understand Oakley's love of beating up other dragons, as well as getting beaten up herself, she could tell that it meant a lot to her sister and happily supported her all the way. Neptune was the one to patch Oakley up whenever she got injured in the brawler's pit, helped her sneak in and out of the clan undetected so their parents wouldn't suspect a thing, and made up countless lies to their mother and father so Oakley could continue her fighting career.

Finally came the day that Oakley was defeated, brutally mauled in the ring, and had to return home in tatters so she could receive treatment from her clan. She came clean to her mom and dad about everything, and while they gave her the utmost sympathy for the brutal beating she had sustained, they prohibited her from ever setting foot in the brawler's pit ever again. Oakley couldn't take that, and fled from her home as soon as her wounds had healed.

Neptune was absolutely crushed; her sister had meant everything to her, and now she was gone. She couldn't just sit at home while Oakley grew further and further away from home, putting herself in danger in all of those fights! And that's why, after lashing out at her parents and assuring them that she could never forgive them, Neptune ran away from home as well.

On her adventure, Neptune also hopes to meet up with Nessi, her much older sister who left their home long before she was born. Nessi had left in search of the Sea of a Thousand Currents, so that will be Neptune's next destination after she finds Oakley.


Travel Log:

Tacocat: It had been a while, but so far Neptune had not heard from either of her sisters. She found herself visiting the Sleepy Hollow Clan, well known for their napping prowess. Well, most of them. While she was there she became acquainted with an odd family. Two imperial females had fallen in love and taken it upon themselves to adopt a skydancer. One of them was a well seasoned dancer who was more than happy to show Neptune some moves. Once she had mastered them, Hilium gifted her with some beautiful beads and silks to wear, telling her she was the most graceful bogsneak she ever met. Neptune stayed for a long while with the clan, but soon it was time to move on, for her sisters still had to be found.

StarlitFire On her way through the Sea of a Thousand Currents, Neptune met a Nocturne, Violette. After talking for a little while about Neptune's plans to find her sister, Violette was so interested in her story and what information she could learn from this and brought her to the Clan of the Brightest Ocean Shores to meet Kacey Alex, an Imperial with a bright mind who used her gift of memory as the Clan's scribe. Kacey Alex was even more interested in Neptune's story, and was granted permission from the Clan's leader to stay with the Clan. Whilst she was there, Neptune met a Skydancer whilst her mate was on her own journeys. Knowing that it was soon time to follow her plans once again, Neptune decided to leave the Clan of the Brightest Ocean Shores quietly, knowing that it was time for her search for Oakley to continue.

Petall: Neptune found herself at Windkeep Tower, a port on the edge of the Windswept Plateau, overlooking the sea of a thousand currants, and it was a good thing she did. Not long after her arrival, a strange airship, different from any ship that normally passed through the port, docked. The crew were fed and rented rooms for their stay, and they seemed to want to leave in a hurry. They kept to themselves, and whispered suspiciously amongst each other. It was only when one crew member was seen sneaking back to the ship in the dead of night that it was discovered: they were slave traders.

The dragons of Windkeep Tower were in uprage, but Neptune even more so, for one of the captured slaves turned out to be her elder sister Nessi. A fight broke out, the small number of the warriors in Windkeep Tower against the seasoned ruffians. Neptune, fearing for her sister's safety, joined in, using fighting techniques she had picked up from Oakley. After a hard fight, the ruffians lost, and we're chased out of the port, without their 'cargo.'

Neptune was overjoyed to meet her sister, and the two spent some time at Windkeep Tower, resting and recovering from their journeys. Windkeep Tower was the perfect place, and they were allowed to stay as long as they wished. They celebrated the Wavecrest Saturnalia together, and event Nessi thoroughly enjoyed.

Lirillith: The sisters arrived in the Viridian Labyrinth just in time to see the early stages of preparations for the Greenskeeper Gathering. A hunting party offered them a place to stay in what turned out to be a large lair in the Behemoth, where utter chaos appeared to be the order of the day. Dragons came and went daily: young recruits and the warriors training them to serve the Gladekeeper, hunting and foraging parties, workers tending to fields and orchards, and more that they couldn't make sense of at all. All that was clear was that travelers could assist if they chose, or stay out of the way, but their hosts had little time to spare for them.

Neptune opted to assist, helping to hang garlands and letter signs, while Nessi hung back, spending much of her time in the area of the lair set aside for travelers' lodgings, or finding secluded spots away from the bustle of the clan's daily activity.

Eventually, though, Neptune found herself with nothing to do - she suspected that some of the smaller dragons had been coming up with tasks for her just to make her happy - and she returned to their lodgings early. She was surprised to find that Nessi had tidied the area and packed up a satchel - food, probably, since she had no luggage any longer.

"Neptune, I think it's time for me to go," Nessi said. "You don't have to come with me, but--"

"Of course I'm coming with you!" Neptune interrupted.

Continlula: Neptune has been tagging along with Nessi on her journey to find her lost family. While Neptune is great full to have found Nessi, she still hasn’t found Oakley. But, she has come to terms with it, and hopefully she’ll run into her.

whalesongstories: After heading back out on their journey, Neptune and Nessi were thrown way off course by a nasty cold front that whipped up relentless winds, tough for even the most skilled navigators to fight through. Straying farther and farther north, it wasn’t long before they were thrown into a blizzard, their visibility all but gone. When the raging winds finally died down, the sisters found themselves lost in the Frigid Floes, unsure of where to go or what to do. Luckily, they were found by a young Guardian, Tundra, and his fledging clan. Though their numbers and resources were small, then clan took Neptune and Nessi in for a short while.

It wasn’t long before Nessi announced that she would be leaving again. Neptune, though she wished to join her sister and continue on their journey, she had come to really enjoy the company of the young and bold Luan. The two sisters talked it over and Nessi assured Neptune that she should do what made her happy and it wasn’t her duty to tag along if she no longer wanted to. Though it hurt to watch her sister go, Neptune decided she would stay with the clan a bit longer, resolving to continue her search for Oakley at a later date. And though one member of her family, Nessi, was out of her reach again, Neptune hoped that Luan could prehaps become family and that one day, everyone she cared for would be reunited.
