S T O R Y
Some say the very shadows whisper rumors and happenings from afar into the Shadowbinder's ears, bringing news from lands the great deity did not walk. They're almost right. A small organisation of dragons travel far and wide and settle themselves in distant clans, welcomed because of their pretty scales and alluring demeanor. They begin learning and absorbing the knowledge and plans from the unknowing dragons around them, before sending on the knowledge through coded scrolls messaged directly to the Forum of the Obscured Crescent. They are the true Shadowbinder's eyes and ears. They are the Spies of the Shadowbinder. Corvus was born into the Spies, and began his training at just five days old. While his mother had the ability to shapeshift into a crow, he was blessed only with the genes and as such he was taught the best way to use his shadow magic to aid him, to conceal him, to cause a distraction. He learned to slip unnoticed into heavily guarded rooms of dominance generals and Clan leaders, and how to quickly evaluate the situation and find secret documents. He was still young when he first met Geier. Unlike the vast majority of the organisation, her eyes were a startling pale blue and she constantly strove to complete the tasks placed before her with a fervor Corvus hadn't ever seen in a dragon. She was the first lightning dragon he had ever met. They were in the same age class, and as such saw each other on a near-daily basis. The two grew closer as their training progressed. But soon their training ended and they went their separate ways to put that training to use. Many months passed and the clan Corvus had integrated himself into had realized what he was up to. They chased him out, howling bloody murder as they brought their claws slashing through his wings. He ran all the way back to the Forum of the Obscured Crescent, unable to face the pain of flying. Once back, he found that Geier had returned too, after a reconnaissance mission in the Southern Icefield. She instantly began tending to his wounds, baring her teeth at those who tried to take her place. Corvus recovered, but his wings were torn and flying was nearly impossible. He had to retire early. Upon hearing this, Geier immediately announced her retirement, though she was perfectly fit. Instead of being working operatives, Corvus and Geier became a breeding pair to continue to help the organisation. |
