Esmaralda fulfills multiple important roles in the clan, but the one that she will always cherish most is that of hatchery attendant. She is almost always flitting between nests in the clan's hatchery, ensuring that all the eggs are kept in the perfect conditions so that the hatchlings will be as healthy as possible. That is not to say that running the hatchery is her only job, however.

What spare time she has is usually spent in her garden, which she takes great pride in. She is an ancient dragon, with much knowledge of the workings of Sorneith, so often as she is planting, weeding, and pruning, other dragons of the lair will approach her to ask about things that are troubling them. She prides herself, as well, on being a good listener and a better counselor, and always makes sure that the dragons walk away feeling, if not happier, then at least more confident than they approached.

Although she has many responsibilities, she does not begrudge any of them. She loves all of her work, and her favorite things are to complete her work as well as she can. She is considered a clan elder, and she loves making things right.
