Cadie's a good leader. She doesn't know where this talent comes from. She didn't learn it from her parents, that's for sure; she left them so early she doesn't even remember their faces. Being the weakest of the clutch, being- a voidling, she was left with no choice. Much less the strength to defend herself. Dragons who knew her back then would say Shadowbinder didn't want her. They'd say she took Cadie's sister Remy instead, with whom she'd been inseparable until then. If there were dragons who knew her. And even if, they'd be wrong. They wouldn't know neither Cadie nor Remy existed back then. They wouldn't know a thing. She stared into the Void, and it devoured her, leaving nothing and yet everything the same. But even a dragon deity couldn't give her qualities like this, couldn't make her strong like this. They could, however, pave the way for her. To this day, Cadie doesn't know what really happened, but she couldn't care less. She didn't blink with her strange-colored eyes, and that's that. |

Time changes everything. It changed her, too.
It began... well, who could say? Cadie didn't notice, much less pay attention. At some point, it just dawned on her that she wasn't the scared hatchling any more. She underwent lots of changes. She experienced hatred and revengefulness as driving force, numbness, and then regret. She killed dragons back then. No, actually, she herself didn't - but she commanded others to do so and that's not really better. And who was she to put herself on a pedestal, when all she did was hurting others? Maybe that realization was the beginning of her greater change. Cadie'd never done anything but fight until then. She still fought for a long time, but she never wished to hurt, to kill anyone any more. And she didn't leave anyone behind. Dragons who remembered that wouldn't ask why her eyes had different colors or why everyone spoke of her as "the one who haunts the demons". But there are few of them. Almost none. |
