Biography

21395.png

Fetch is Four's mate. No one knows much about him.

He was brought back to the clan by Annabel and Four following a visit to ancient Dragonhome, or... that's what Annabel says, anyway. Though he did certainly appear after they returned from there, no one recalled anyone being with them as they made their way along the highroad to Clifftown, nor would the tunnel watchers who saw them pass into the Inner Keep say that their party consisted of more than Anna, Four, and Vihaga. Though Fae's are small and easy to miss...

The strange Fae quickly gained influence in the clan through Annabel, and he now serves as the Speaker for the Fae Colony in Scarwind Keep.

The Colony

plaguemid.png

"Yes, I suppose it is an infestation, but as long as at least some of them are useful and they don't cause too much damage no one really minds. In any case, they are all Loyal to the Queen. They serve as her eyes and ears, and they protect the keep from intruders and other vermin."
- Peryite the Pestilent
The Colony
In the voluminous halls of the Scarwind keep, in the empty spaces between rooms, and in hidden passages and fluttering about the rafters is a colony of Fae Dragons. Most of them are plague and a large number of them had been living there before the arrival of the Clan of Singing Blood. The Poison-Eye Fae isn't quite their leader, as while they have some hierarchy within the colony, they don't have any kind of leadership. Instead, Fetch serves as a liaison between the Clan of Singing Blood and the colony of fae which live in great number in the Scarwind Keep. Within this colony, the Grey Fae has cultivated a small cult of followers for himself and Amanita, but for the most part, the members of the colony are fanatically devoted to the Queen.

Gaia
Fallen Leaf

She knows little of her past before she came to the Noli Timere Carnival, where she spent most of her life. To address, in a way, questions of her origins, her mate, Siarl, invented a story about a tree in Dragonhome, infused with magic, and that she sprang from it when one of the eternal leaves fell to the earth.

She lived for a very long time, traveling with the carnival until Siarl's split personality and increasing instability became too much to manage. This discovery that he had, while under the possession of the more monstrous version of himself, laved the dragon Viatrix, whom Gaia abhorred, was too much to bear. She left the carnival. She had heard of a colony of fae who lived in the keep of one of the carnival's allies, and decided she would live there, among her own kin.

Hawktalon and Crystaltalon
Acrobatic Performers

For almost as long as anyone can remember the Talon Triplets had been a key feature of the Noli Timere Carnival, but front and center was always Shimmertalon, whose gold-plated scales made him the first to be noticed. His constant attention seeking and pursuit of women meant he was always involved in some manner of new scandal. This was all his elaborate way or dealing with, or rather, not dealing with, the unknown sorrows of their origins.
Though they had always been inseparable, Hawk and Crystal eventually grew weary of their brother's antics and sometimes toxic pursuits. They had no intention of truly leaving him, but each wanted more room on the stage, where they might be better appreciated for their own talents than merely as Shimmer's shadows. To that end, they followed Gaia, who had written numerous letters to them from her new home in the Scarred Wasteland. The Scarwind keep was a unique opportunity in the otherwise hostile land. Living was not so harsh there. After more arrangements were made, they moved to the Clan of Singing Blood, where they now perform for the nobles of the clan, and for the frightening whims of the Queen. So far they have not failed to delight her, and bring her to almost childish bouts of laughter.

Twilight and Blizzard
Sunsea Idols

Twilight and Blizard were both born among the sacred and ancient stones of the sunbeam ruins, but to the Noli Timere Carnival, they became living idols of the sea and the summering sun which glanced off its waters. With each at the head of a raft or ship, they were thought to bring good luck to the carnival as it traveled between islands.

They remained with the carnival until a great storm came, which nearly sank many of the rafts and ships, and might have done, had they not been blessedly near to a port where they could gain at least a little shelter. After that there was chaos; rumors surfaced that the Tidelord was gone. All was uncertain for the Sea of a Thousand Currents. It became more desperate and less welcoming., and the two fae had lost all favor as 'idols' or lucky charms.
Neither wanted to return home, for fear of whatever exile had brought them to the Sea of a Thousand Currents in the first place. They decided to make their way to Dragonhome, and live their lives among the ancient stones and ruins along the northern or western coast at the edge of the world. On their way there they would layover at the Clan of Singing Blood, who were allies, and was home to several other departing Faes. What was intended to only be a brief stay become a permanent one, as the two Sunsea idols found a home in the colony of Fae in the Scarwind Keep. It satisfied their need for an ancient structure, and they had many stories to offer their kin there.

Conner
The Runaway

Conner was born in a small clan in the Abiding Boneyard. Here he was taught the ways of the Plaguebringer so that he could one day serve Her as one of Her Exalted. His parents, siblings, friends all spoke of what an honor it was! They were so proud! He was not; He was afraid he wouldn't be up to the task, afraid of leaving, and afraid of change. Before the day of the Ceremony, he panicked and ran; none of his clanmates understood why. They searched for him for a short while but expected that had been eaten; he deserved it for betraying them and the Plaguebringer.

Unable to return home and face the consequences of his actions, he wandered the wasteland, staying for a while with a few other clans until he heard of a colony of fae dragons living in safety at the edge of the wyrmwound. He sought them out, joined them, and came thereby to serve the Plaguebringer then without ever having realized it.

Aisa
Macabre Aficionado

Aisa had a reputation in the clan where she was born. She would fly through the Gladeveins, searching the wetlands, and diving like a glittering fish into the deeper pools as she looked for signs of long-passed death. She collected bones from the waters and decorated her roost with them. The others thought her strange and whispered that she was very grim indeed. Some thought she had the nature of a siren, who would lure less adept dragons into the water and drown them there, then take their bones.

This was not true, but it was hard to shake the rumors, and she eventually left her forest home for someplace that might be more welcoming to someone with her curiosities. She found such a place eventually in the Scarwind Keep, where there were all manner of fae, and no one thought her strange.

Meymo and Alseides
Fallen Thèanites

It started on Thèan, a planet of dark forests and deep oceans, of golden deserts and shimmering glaciers. The world was peaceful. The Gods who created it were happy. The Demi-Gods who looked after it were kept busy with the trials and tribulations of its inhabitants.

But all was not well in the Realm of the Dark Ones. Carolus, Lord of Hell, and his wives, Sirra and Chereese, began to lose control of their subjects. What followed was the first and last war of Thèan. The Demi-Gods fought the Guardians of Hell. Thèan was destroyed and the population wiped out. A select few of the Old Gods, the Demi-Gods, and the Guardians escaped and fled to Sornieth. Among these were Meymo and Alseides, but they were not entirely the same as when they had left their own world. "You are Meymo, of the clan of Thèan. You came through the skies and stars on the wings of Gods. You are strong." Alseides had told Meymo when he awoke.
She was scarred and unrecognizable to him. He did not believe her words. Strong? He did not feel strong. He didn't want to be strong. He was tired and weak and only wanted to be alone. Alseides knew him and was full of fear and doubt for the loss of him. She was so changed and he so weary that she thought he would never choose to be with her again.

He did choose her, in the end, but it was at the cost of the Clan of Thèan. When weariness overtook him, he went to her for comfort, and they departed together. They sought shelter where none knew of their past and ancient otherworldly responsibilities were not hung around their necks. They found a home in the Scarwind Keep, where Meymo was left alone as often as he wished, but had company when he needed.

Leonie
The Adventurer

Leonie is the daughter of the leaders of Clan Bright Ice. It was an old and prosperous clan but did not seem so when Leonie hatched. They had only just returned home following the aftermath of an Emperor's passing. It was ruin upon ruins, and all the dragons were occupied with rebuilding.

Leonie was interested in the stories of the Emperor. It was a topic of much discussion and would be for years to come. She resolved she wanted to see it with her own eyes, but told no one. She was still very young and it seemed to her a grand adventure. When she laid eyes on the terrible beast, she realized she was unprepared. She had found it in the midst of a battle, and if she did not perish she would have a tale for the ages, but getting out alive was its own challenge.
She was injured during her flight from the chaos and scooped up by a passing Skydancer who had also been observing the battle. Annabel preserved Leonie in a sleep, so that she could be healed, and took the little fae to her home in the Scarred Wasteland. Leonie was frightened for a while by the strange new place, but Annabel was kind, and the Scarwind Keep was filled with fae who were very eager to take her in and care for her, Twilight and Blizzard in particular. Everyone was eager to hear the story of her adventure. She missed home and her parents and friends, but by the time anyone was able to find the Bright Ice Clan, she had long become accustomed to the Scarwind Keep, she had grown up there and it had become her home.

Cankanorey and Kulunrey
Troubled Tricksters

These two are close as sisters and small enough to get into all manner of mischief and remain unnoticed by larger dragons. The elder fae, in particular, tends towards trouble. Her mother was extraordinarily clever. She was a trickster, and her daughter fancied herself a trickster too, but she lacked all the cunning and experience which made her mother potent. This got them into trouble.

The two fae grew up together and faced great danger together. It was a danger that no one else seemed to notice, or they pretended not to out of fear and uncertainty. Solaris, one of the clan's powerful guardians with a distinguished and noble reputation, hid from view a shadow of great cruelty. That shadow had been witnessed by Moth. Solaris imprisoned Moth, and kept her silent.
42717315_350.png
The two young fae got too close to Moth, and in doing so discovered the nature of her imprisonment and Solaris's crimes. When Solaris found out what they knew, they would be in greater danger still. They were safe long enough to make plans to leave, but they were both young and knew little of the world.

They stowed away amongst some trade goods in a caravan passing through their territory. They were discovered by the guard a few days later, but the younger of the two convinced the caravan leader, Finnigan, to let them stay. It was a long journey, winding and weaving as they pursued industry and trade. The two were put to work and learned a lot about the world as they went.
42831532_350.png The journey ended with their arrival at the Scarwind Keep where they were welcomed by the fae dragons who lived there. The Scarred Wasteland was very different from the home they left. If not for the time spent traveling the world, they might have been frightened and regretful, but they were older now and knew more and loved their new family. There was still plenty of room for mischief and trouble, but things were more straightforward here. If a dragon was cruel or dangerous, it was no secret.

The two spent time in the clocktower and befriended the Clockmaker who was kind and always had interesting stories to tell. They had been afraid to tell anyone their names, so they picked new ones based on the stories he told them. The elder trickster was Cankanorey, for her soft rosy wings and scales like dark stone. Kulunrey thought the whole thing with the names was silly; she took her old name and appended "rey" onto the end of it, so their names matched.

Trinket
Master Merchant

Trinket is the daughter of a merchant from the Clan of the Singing Bamboo. Her sharp mind is tuned for numbers. Intuition and experience grant her a keen nose for profit. She got her name from trying to sell little trinkets to other hatchlings and she liked to perch on bigger dragons like she was a trinket herself. The latter behavior is put to use when dealing with the largest of dragons. It gives her an opportunity to get close to them while being cute an appealing, a great advantage while making sales pitches.

Within the Scarwind Colony, she is the go-to-dragon for all manner of valuable things. This is helped by her relationship with Finnigan. She occasionally joins trade caravans on trips and brings back the best of goods. She is also good friends with Cankanorey and Kulunrey.
