ONE FATEFUL DAY IN SORNIETH, pearlcatcher Nicole was tired of always having to do everything while her lazy tundra husband sat on his butt all day.
"RICHARD," she said, "it's YOUR turn to find dinner. I am going to take a nap."
"UGGGHHHH," Richard said. But he left anyway, because Nicole is scary and could snap his neck if she wanted to.
Richard returned a couple hours later and plopped a tiny orange coatl in front of his wife and son.
Nicole stared in disbelief at the coatl hatchling. "What is this??"
"It's a fish, fresh from the Fishspine Reef! Eat up!" Richard said cheerfully.
"You've got to be kidding me, Richard. This is a CHILD. AND WE DON'T EVEN EAT FISH!!"
"Whoops...lol."
Ugh. What now? Nicole glanced down at the little coatl and he stared right back with big ol' eyes. He was kinda cute. And she really didn't feel like flying all the way to the Sea of a Thousand Currents...
"Whatever. We'll just keep him."
"Isn't that, like, kidnapping?"
"Let's not get technical about it..."
Adopted son of Nicole and Richard. He was separated from his birth family too young to have ever learned Coatl, but the strange humming sounds he made confused them nonetheless. Luckily he very quickly made friends with his new brother Gumball and the two seemed to understand each other perfectly. They've been best friends since :D
